Brockport Ice Hockey Set for a Weekend of SUNYAC Matchups

Brockport, NY- The SUNY Brockport men's ice hockey team will host SUNY Cortland Friday, November 18that 7pm in the Wegmans Ice arena. The following night, Brockport will travel to Oswego State for a 7pm puck drop.

North Country Recap: The Golden Eagles started their recent trip up north with a, 9-2, loss to Plattsburgh State. The game belonged to the Cardinals right from the start as they scored just 44 seconds into the first period. They would go on to score eight unanswered goals through midway into the second.

Nolan Egbert spent the first period between the pipes, allowing three goals and made 12 saves. He stayed in the net for the early goings of the second, finishing his night with 14 saves and six goals allowed before coming off. Aidan Curry stepped in for his chance at some action midway through the second.

At 14:02 in the second, Scott Ramaekers finally put Brockport on the board. Raemekers, the Golden Eagle that scored the overtime game-winner against Plattsburgh last season in the SUNYAC Tournament, beat the opposing goalie to make it an 8-1 game. Ramaekers was assisted by teammates Chris Aarons and Chase Maxwell on the play. Brockport headed into the third period down seven.

Early into the third Plattsburgh State scored again, to go up 9-2. However, Matt Anastasio came back quick with an answer for the Green and Gold. At 6:21 into the third, Anastasio found the back of the net with assists from James Tilley and Manny Sanchez. The deficit would be too large to overcome as the Cardinals took the victory.

The second night of the trip the team bounced back, beating SUNY Potsdam 4-2. After a Potsdam penalty at 6:43, Anastasio capitalized on the power play scoring at 7:32 into the first, assisted by Zach Norby and Scott Ramaekers.

Andrew Harley saw an opportunity a minute later at 8:44 into the first, sending the puck between the pipes past the goalie. Harley was assisted by teammates Sam DiBitetto and Manny Sanchez. The Men started the second period with a 2-1 score.

Potsdam got to work, scoring their second goal of the game, tying it up at 17:02. Josh Grund reacted quickly, scoring with 55 seconds left in the second period assisted by Scott Ramaekers and Zach Norby once again.

Chris Aarons scored the Golden Eagles final goal of the game at 9:01 in the third period. Aarons was assisted by teammates Chase Maxwell and Cam Barbagallo.
