Brockport, NY – On Tuesday, November 22
nd the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team hits the court for a road game. Brockport faces York College in Jamaica, NY for a 5pm start.
Last Time Out: With a tight, 71-67, win over Hobart at home, the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team improves to 2-1 overall on the season.
David Grady III led the Golden Eagles with a game-high 21 points. The Golden Eagles attacked the basket all game long for easy looks in the paint. They scored 50 points in the paint, outscoring Hobart under the hoop by 20 points.
Hot Start: After putting up career numbers early on,
Mekhi Beckett has gotten off to an incredible start after earning SUNYAC Rookie of the Year last season. He is leading the Golden Eagles with 24.7 points and 6.3 rebounds a game, while shooting 40% from three. In a win over Keystone not too long ago, he notched a career-high 33 points.
Getting Big: David Grady III stepped up big in the team's last outing with a dominant showing down low. He scored a season-high 21 points while going 9-for-12 from the field. Hobart was unable to keep Grady from converting at the rim all night. He also had three boards, two blocks, two assists, and one steal. So far this year he is averaging 13.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks a game.
Making Plays: Brockport has several players capable of making plays on the court. Last game the team had four double-digit scorers, including
Tony Arnold and
Colby Jordan. Arnold is averaging 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds as well as 3.3 assists and 2.3 steals to lead the team. Jordan hit 4-of-5 shots from the field for 11 points against Hobart for his first double-digit scoring output of the season
Looking at York: The York Cardinals are still searching for their first win of the season, as they own a 0-6 record so far this year. #3 Terrell Fullerton has been lighting it up, averaging a team-high 18.0 points a game. Fullerton is 12-for-33 from beyond the arc this season. #11 Matthew Smiley leads the team with 7.5 rebounds a game. Both Smiley and #24 Olawale Kila are scoring at least eight points a game so far for York.
Up Next: Brockport will begin conference play after the holiday, as the squad travels to play Buffalo State. The SUNYAC opener is scheduled for a 7:30pm start.
