Brockport, NY- The Men's Ice Hockey team will be heading into another weekend full of SUNYAC Matchups. The Golden Eagles will travel to take on the Fredonia State Blue Devils on Friday, December 2nd at pm. The following night they return home to host Buffalo State at 7pm in the Wegmans Ice Arena.
Last Game Recap: Brockport fell to Elmira College on Saturday afternoon, 6-3, at the Murray Athletic Center on the road.
After a strong 20 minutes of play for the Soaring Eagles, Brockport went into the first intermission trailing 4-0.
Early in the second at 1:05, Josh Higgins received the puck from teammates Jacob Rodrigue and Chase Maxwell to bury the puck in the back of the net. As well as recording his first collegiate goal, Higgins scored the first of three goals for the Green and Gold. Elmira scored one more time in the second, making it a 5-1 game going into the third period.
At 2:08 into the third, Andrew Harley capitalized on a power play opportunity scoring the second goal for the Golden Eagles. Harley was assisted by teammate Connor Galloway. Elmira scored their final goal at 7:08 in the third.
In the final moments of regulation, Michael Meredith passed the puck to Dominic Chirico who took a shot that rebounded of Elmira's goalie. The puck then landed in front of Matt Anastasio who snuck it between the pipes.
Nolan Egbert spent the first 47:52 minutes in the game before Dylan Wiemer stepped in for the last 12:08. Egbert made a total of 31 saves, allowing six goals. Wiemer made 10 saves and allowed no goals.
Looking at the Blue Devils: Fredonia State is currently 1-6 overall and 1-3 in conference going into Friday's game. The team has a total of 16 goals this season on 187 shots, averaging 2.29 goals a game. Their leading scorer is sophomore Ryan Bailey with four goals. In net for the Blue Devils is senior Dalton Jerzak. Jerzak has played 4:24.39 minutes this season, making 244 saves, and allowing 26 goals. This gives him a save percentage of .904.
Looking at the Bengals: Buffalo State is 5-4 overall and 2-2 in conference going into Saturday night's match up. The team has a total of 29 goals and 255 shots. Buffalo State averages 3.2 goals a game, and the leading scorer is Tyler Vanuden with 7 goals. Between the Pipes for Buffalo State is Emil Norrman. Norrman has spent 538:50 minutes in net this season making 336 saves, and allowing 22 goals. This gives him a save percentage of .939.
Up Next: Following this weekend, Brockport will host SUNY Geneseo in the Teddy Bear Toss on Friday, December 9th in the Wegmans Ice Arena. The team will then travel to Dudley, Massachusetts for the Nichols Tournament to kick of the second half of their season in 2023.
