Men's Basketball Faces #12 Oswego on the Road Before Hosting Cortland on Saturday

Brockport, NY – This weekend the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team will take on two SUNYAC opponents. Brockport travels to take on #12 Oswego on Friday, December 2nd at 7:30pm. The team then returns home on Saturday, December 3rd for a 5pm game against Cortland.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles defeated Buffalo State, 72-69, earlier in the week to open up SUNYAC play with a victory. Jahidi Wallace and Mekhi Beckett led the way offensively, as the duo combined for 47 points on the night. Brockport has now won four games in a row to improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Leading Scorers: Mekhi Beckett is the team's leading scorer so far this season, averaging a 23.2 points per game early on. He has reached 20 points in four of the first five games, including a career-high 33 points against Keystone. Jahidi Wallace is second in scoring with an average of 13.8 points a game. He scored a season-high 27 points against Buffalo State, and is currently shooting 56.8% from the field.

Grady's Block Party: David Grady III has been a persistent presence in the paint for the Green and Gold. The forward has blocked six shots in back-to-back outings and is averaging 3.6 blocks a game. He is also averaging 12.8 points and 8.0 rebounds, while shooting 50% from the floor.

On the Perimeter: Tony Arnold and Colby Jordan have handled their roles on the perimeter well to start the season. Arnold averages 11.4 points a game, while leading the team with 20 assists and 18 steals. Jordan is second on the squad through five contests with 14 assists and five steals.

Nationally-Ranked Lakers: The Oswego State Lakers are currently 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference and are ranked No. 12 in the most recent d3hoops.com top-25 poll. Oswego opened SUNYAC play with a, 79-60, victory over Fredonia earlier in the week. The reigning SUNYAC Champions are led by a balanced scoring attack that features five double-digit scorers this season. #21 Cartier Bowman and #23 Jeremiah Sparks are both averaging over 12 points and seven rebounds a game so far. The Lakers won both games against Brockport last season, but the Golden Eagles have won three of the last five meetings.

Looking at Cortland: The Cortland Red Dragons enter the weekend at 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the SUNYAC after a recent, 82-62, win over Geneseo. Their biggest threat on the hardwood is #20 Austin Grunder, who returns after winning SUNYAC Player of the Year last season. Grunder leads the team with averages of 18.8 points and 10.0 rebounds a game. Brockport won both meetings against Cortland last season and has won seven in a row against this conference foe heading into Saturday.

Up Next: Following the weekend set, the Golden Eagles will be on the road once again to continue conference play. They head to Fredonia on Tuesday, December 6th for a 7:30pm tip-off.
