The SUNY Brockport women's gymnastics team travels to Cortland on Sunday for a tri-meet against Ithaca and Cortland. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

Specialist of the Week: Sophomore
Sydney Schumaker was named the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Specialist of the Week in a release by the conference office on Monday afternoon. A Brockport student-athlete has won this coveted weekly award on four occasions this season, including three by All-American hopeful
Lexi Castellaneta. Schumaker won the vault (9.700), tied the school-record on the beam (9.800) and she added a sixth-place finish on the bars (9.100) as Brockport defeated Ithaca and Cortland last Sunday afternoon. Schumaker is currently ranked 2nd nationally on the vault with an average of 9.625 this season and she is tied for the top vault of the season (9.800) in the country.
Dominant So Far: As a team, the Golden Eagles rank No. 1 nationally in Team Season Average Score (192.0188) and they lead the country with a team high score of 192.425 this year. Brockport leads the nation on the bars (47.9938 SAS), beam (48.1250 SAS), and floor (48.2563 SAS). The Golden Eagles are 10-0 in duals this year.
Off to an Excellent Start: Brockport first year Head Coach Rene Lyst has hit the ground running, going unbeaten in her first 10 duals while guiding the Golden Eagles to school-record team performances on the bars and the beam. The Golden Eagles hold eight individual spots in the nation's top five across the four events.
In the National Spotlight: Three Brockport gymnasts rank in the top 10 nationally on the vault including No. 1
Lexi Castellaneta (9.7375 SAS), No. 2
Sydney Schumaker (9.7188 SAS) and No. 8
Emma Grace Sargent (9.6250 SAS). Brockport's

Taylor Bushey are tied for second nationally on the bars (9.7063 SAS) and
Emma Grace Sargent ranks fifth nationally (9.6375 SAS).
Lexi Castellaneta leads the nation on the beam (9.7625 SAS) and
Natalie Galioto ranks third (9.7438 SAS).
Sydney Schumaker ranks eighth nationally on the beam (9.6313 SAS). Castellaneta also leads the nation on the floor (9.8250 SAS) and
Naimah Muhammad ranks seventh (9.6938 SAS).
Kirsten Paultre ranks eighth on the floor (9.6875 SAS).
High Scores: Brockport's team high score of 192.425 stands as the top score in Division III this season.
Sydney Schumaker has the highest score this season on the team on the vault (9.800).
Gabbi Gare and
Taylor Bushey lead the way on the bars with a 9.775, while
Natalie Galioto,
Lexi Castellaneta and
Sydney Schumaker share the highest score of the year on the beam (9.800). Castellaneta remains as the only gymnast in Division III to post a 9.900 on the floor this season.
Looking Ahead: Brockport heads back to Cortland next Sunday to take on the Red Dragons and Rhode Island College at 1 p.m. in their final tune-up before NCGA Regionals at Springfield College on March 12
th. Brockport will look to defend their national title at the 2022 NCGA National Championships hosted by Ithaca College on March 26
th at 3 p.m.
