The SUNY Brockport gymnastics team placed second in the team competition with a score of 192.600 at the 2022 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association National Championships hosted by Ithaca College on Saturday. Brockport's
Lexi Castellaneta was named the NCGA Most Outstanding Senior in a ceremony following the competition. Brockport's
Taylor Bushey shared the national title on the bars, while
Kyra Figurelli posted an incredible 9.900 on her way to earning the national title on the floor.
Eight Golden Eagles earned podium rights and All-American honors after finishing in the top eight in their respective event, including

Brockport's
Lexi Castellaneta and
Natalie Galioto led the way for the Golden Eagles during rotation one on the beam. Galioto tied her career-best and the school-record with a 9.800, while Castellaneta put together a gutsy 9.775 to account for Brockport's second highest mark. Galioto placed second in the individual competition, while Castellaneta tied for sixth.
Emmie White led the Golden Eagles off with a timely 9.650 to get Brockport off on the right foot. She placed 19
th overall.
Sydney Schumaker closed out the event for Brockport with a 9.175.
Jensen Todd added a 9.150 and
Olivia Stinnette posted a 9.000.
Floor – Brockport: 49.000 (1st)
Brockport's floor squad pulled together for an epic performance led by
Kyra Figurelli's career-best 9.900 to take home lone rights to the national title on the floor.
Emmie White posted a career-best 9.800, while
Kirsten Paultre added a career-best 9.800 as well. White and Paultre tied for third place to give Brockport three finishers in the top three.
Natalie Galioto posted a career-best 9.775 to take home seventh, and
Naimah Muhammad added a 9.725 (T-15
th) to round out Brockport's top five. Laken Soy added a career-best 9.625 for the Golden Eagles.
Vault – Brockport: 47.700 (5th)
Sydney Schumaker led Brockport on the vault with a sixth-place finish and a final score of 9.725, while
Emma Grace Sargent added a 12
th place score of 9.650.
Kyra Figurelli chipped in with a 9.550 and
Nicole Jackson added a 9.500.
Natalie Galioto came through with a 9.275 and
Lauren Blair round out Brockport with an 8.950.
Bars – Brockport: 48.350 (2nd)
Brockport's
Taylor Bushey shared rights to the national title on the bars as she posted a school-record score of 9.800 to tie for first place with three other student-athletes.
Rachel Swick placed ninth overall as she posted a score of 9.700.
Emma Grace Sargent and
Nicole Jackson placed 15
th with a score of 9.650, while
Sydney Schumaker placed 22
nd with a score of 9.550.
Gabbi Gare placed 40
th with a score of 8.875.
The 2022 edition of the Golden Eagles are the first team in program history to finish the regular season with an undefeated record (15-0). The Golden Eagles won a program-best 15 duals. They posted a season-high score of 192.425 in a sweep of Cornell, Ithaca and Cortland on February 13th. They handily won the NCGA East Region title and
Lexi Castellaneta was named the East Region Gymnast of the Year in addition to her National Gymnast of the Year accolade.
