Brockport, NY – The top ranked Golden Eagles return the gym for a quad-meet on Sunday at 2 P.M. at Cortland. Ithaca and Ursinus are also competing.
Brockport's scored a 190.700 in last weekend's meet, marking the fifth meet in a row the team has scored above 190.000. The Golden Eagles lead the country in Season Average Score (SAS) with a 192.0188, and a season-high 192.425, which came on February 13 at Cornell. Sophomore
Sydney Schumaker won her second straight National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Specialist of the Week award this week. A Brockport gymnast has won this award five times this season, with senior All-American hopeful
Lexi Castellaneta having won three times previously. Schumaker tied the program-record on vault of 9.825 that is held by teammate
Nicole Jackson and took fourth on the uneven bars with a 9.375. She currently is the top ranked vaulter in the nation and has the highest score in the nation this season.

Vault: Brockport has a nation-leading SAS of 48.1313 on the vault. Sophomore
Sydney Schumaker is the top-ranked vaulter in the nation, while senior
Lexi Castellaneta is ranked third (9.7375 SAS) and sophomore
Emma Grace Sargent is ranked ninth nationally (9.6438 SAS). The team won the event during last weekend's meet, scoring a season high 48.250, led by Schumaker's program record-tying 9.825.
Uneven Bars: The Golden Eagles placed second on the uneven bars in last week's Cortland Tri-meet. Sophomore
Emma Grace Sargent took third on the event, scoring a 9.575. The team is currently the top ranked team in the nation in the event, led by sophomore
Taylor Bushey (second in the nation), junior
Gabbi Gare (fourth in the nation), and Sargent (eighth in the nation).
Beam: Led by top ranked sophomore
Natalie Galioto and third ranked senior
Lexi Castellaneta, Brockport has cruised on beam all season. Freshman
Maya Pecoraro has been a consistent piece to the beam lineups success, including scoring a season high 9.725 on the event last week to tie with Galioto for first at the meet. The team is No. 1 in the nation with an SAS of 48.1250, and has the season high score in the NCGA with a 48.600.
Floor: The Golden Eagles have been soaring high on the floor since day one. Senior
Lexi Castellaneta sits atop the nation with her 9.8438 SAS and season high 9.900 on the event, while junior
Kyra Figurelli and sophomore's
Kirsten Paultre and
Naimah Muhammad all sit top 10 in the nation. The top floor squad in the country is one of only two programs to have a SAS above 48.000 (48.4125, UW-Whitewater out of the west is the other team breaking the 48 mark).
About Cortland: For those counting at home, this will be Brockport's fifth time seeing the Red Dragons this year and Brockport is 4-0 against the Cortland this season. Cortland's team SAS sits at 182.6563. Kamryn Rodriguez sits at fourth in the country on the floor with an SAS of 9.7563, senior Samantha Nothnagel has the ninth highest score of the season on the beam scoring a 9.750, and junior Abby Bang sits at 13
th nationally on the vault.
About Rhode Island College: RIC is a program that has showed some real sparks this year. The team has set numerous program records, led by junior Kelsey Gates and sophomore Olivia Keyes. The team SAS sits at 184.4375, which is good enough for third in the East Region and seventh in the country.
About Ursinus: The wild card of the season, Ursinus has no SAS, having only competed at one in-region NCGA away meet. The team has seen scores ranging from 171.925 to as high as 188.450. Based on overall averages, the team would sit at ninth in the country with a 183.858, which would be fifth in the east. Junior Alyssa Delorme has earned the NCGA East Region All-Around Gymnast of the Week for two weeks in a row, while freshman Madison Zimmerman has drawn some attention, hitting as high as 9.800 on the beam.
Up Next: The Golden Eagles head on the road next weekend, with a NCGA Regional Title and a place at the National Championships at stake. The Regional meet will be held at Springfield College on March 12
th at 1 p.m. The top three teams next weekend will move on to the NCGA National Championships, hosted by Ithaca College on March 26
