Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport softball team is gearing up for a busy, eight-game week featuring four different SUNYAC opponents. At 7-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference, Brockport gets this week started with a trip to Plattsburgh for a 3 pm start for Monday's doubleheader.
 
Busy Week Ahead: The Golden Eagles will start the week traveling to both Plattsburgh and Potsdam. After playing Plattsburgh for a pair of contests on Monday, the team then heads to Potsdam on Tuesday for another SUNYAC doubleheader. Both doubleheaders on the road are set to begin at 3 pm. The team then gets back home for a set against New Paltz at 3 pm on Friday and a pair of games against Oneonta starting at 12 pm on Saturday.
 
Last Outing: Brockport hosted Geneseo last week for its home opener and the beginning of conference play. The visiting Knights came to town and stole both games on the day by final scores of 6-1 and 9-0. These were the first games Brockport has gotten to play since returning from its trip to Florida in the middle of March.
 
At the Plate: Currently batting .400 for the Golden Eagles, 
Madison Evarts leads the team and ranks fifth in the SUNYAC in batting average. Evarts also leads the team with 13 runs scored so far. Sitting just outside the SUNYAC's top 10 for batting average are 
Cameryn Duggan and 
Olivia Hayden. Duggan is 11
th in the conference hitting .382, while Hayden is 12
th with a .378 average. Hayden's 17 hits are also the most on the team. 
Annie Dipirro (.324) and 
Emma DeJesus (.316) are both hitting above .300, have 12 hits each, and have combined for 15 RBIs.
 
In the Circle: Catherine Johnson (1-2) leads the pitching staff with 18 strikeouts so far this year and is second on the team with 20 innings pitched. Johnson has pitched three complete games and owns the 11
th best ERA in the SUNYAC of 3.15. 
Julia Palopoli (1-1) is right behind her with 16 strikeouts in just 17 innings of work. Palopoli's team-best ERA of 1.65 is ranked fifth in the conference. Freshman 
Hali Jenner (2-3) has been the most active pitcher on the roster, throwing a team-high 27 innings to register eight strikeouts and a 3.89 ERA.
 
Facing Plattsburgh: At 6-10 overall and 2-2 in the conference, the Plattsburgh Cardinals look to work back towards a .500 record this week. They will take on Geneseo, Cortland, and Oswego later in the week. The Cardinal's K. Langdon currently sits inside the top 15 in the SUNYAC in batting average so far this year. The Green and Gold won the last two games against Plattsburgh, which came during the 2019 season. Monday will be the first time the two programs have played in nearly three full years.
 
Looking at Potsdam: The Potsdam Bears are still looking for their first win this season, owning a record of 0-15 overall and 0-4 in the SUNYAC. They take on Geneseo for a doubleheader on Monday before hosting Brockport on Tuesday. After a 1-1 split in 2019, Brockport is 7-3 against Potsdam in the last 10 meetings between the two teams.
 
Hosting New Paltz: The Hawks are currently 15-9 overall and 2-2 in the conference as the week begins. They have a busy schedule this week as well with matchups against Fredonia, Buffalo State, Scranton, Brockport, and Geneseo on tap. New Paltz is riding the wave of a four-game win streak after sweeping both Potsdam and Mount Saint Mary in doubleheaders last week. J. Rometo, K. Quagliana, and J. Shelbourne are all inside the top 10 in the SUNYAC in batting average.
 
Scouting Oneonta: The Oneonta Red Dragons are entering this week 13-6 overall and 4-0 in SUNYAC play. They take on Buffalo State, Fredonia, and Geneseo before Saturday's doubleheader against Brockport. Oneonta recently had a five-game winning streak snapped by a 7-6 loss to Ithaca on the road. Brockport and Oneonta are 2-2 over the last four games against each other heading into this weekend's matchup. The Red Dragons have two players (G. Cancelleri & J. Serena) that have top 10 batting averages in the SUNYAC.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles are back home again next week for their next set of games. They welcome the University of Rochester for a doubleheader on Wednesday, April 20
th for a 3 pm start.
