Track & Field Heads to Geneseo Quad Meet This Weekend

The SUNY Brockport track & field program will travel to SUNY Geneseo for the Geneseo Quad Meet on Saturday and Sunday. The men's decathlon, women's heptathlon, 5K, 10K, women's javelin and women's discus will take place on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. The rest of the meet will take place on Sunday.  The meet will feature host Geneseo, as well as Brockport, Ithaca, Nazareth and University of Rochester.

Racking Up Awards: Brockport swept the SUNYAC men's weekly awards this past week. Jonathan Zavala was named the SUNYAC Track Athlete of the Week. Zavala placed 36th out of 186 finishers in the 800 meter dash at Division I Bucknell on Saturday with a personal best time of 1:54.41, which ranks third on Brockport's all-time outdoor list. Elijah Washington was named the SUNYAC Field Athlete of the Week. He placed fourth in the men's hammer throw at Division I Bucknell on Saturday with a huge personal best toss of 58.17m., which ranks second all-time at Brockport. His throw currently ranks fifth on the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Qualifying List.
 
Jordan In Line for Another NCAA Bid: Jordan, an indoor national qualifier, won the men's shot put with an outdoor personal best throw of 16.28m at the University of Rochester Spring Classic. His new outdoor personal best ranks sixth all-time at Brockport and is currently fourth on the outdoor national qualifying list.
 
Powell Jumping to New Heights: Powell, an all-american, posted two big jumps at the University of Rochester Spring Classic as she won the triple jump with an outdoor personal best distance of 11.96 meters which currently ranks eighth on the outdoor national qualifying list. She also placed second in the long jump with a distance of 5.64 meters which ranks 10th nationally on the outdoor qualifying list.

200 Meters: Brockport has two women in the top 100 in the nation in the 200 meter dash so far this outdoor season. Freshman Marissa Wise ranks 71st nationally with a time of 25.61 and junior Sarah Levine ranks 84th nationally with a time of 25.72. 

Outdoor Track and Field Meet 4/15/22

Zavala Continuing Strong Freshman Campaign: Reigning SUNYAC Indoor Rookie of the Year Jonahtan Zavala ranks in the top 50 on the NCAA Div. III Outdoor national qualifying list with a time of 1:54.41 in the 800m. He also ranks 63rd nationally in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.06. 

The More Obstacle's the Better: Brockport has four student-athletes ranked in the top 100 nationally in the 3000m steeplechase this season.  Senior Paul Suflita ranks 46th nationally with a time of 9:32.70.  Jared Smith ranks 74th nationally with a time of 9:41.67. Thomas Kressly ranks 96th (9:46.45). On the women's side, Veronica Dailey ranks 95th with a time of 12:00.68. 

Distance: Paul Suflita ranks 88th nationally in the 10K with a time of 31:51.42. Ethan Carey ranks 89th with a time of 31:51.77. 
 
Crockett Continues to Dominate: Reining SUNYAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Year Sarah Crockett ranks 12th nationally in the shot put (13.54m) and 24th nationally in the hammer (49.56m).
 
Fredenburg Looks to Return to NCAA's: 2021 outdoor NCAA qualifier Alayna Fredenburg ranks in the top 30 nationally in the Javelin (37.91m) and she ranks 31st in the hammer (48.45m).
 
Hammer Time: Brockport has eight total athletes (four men, four women) ranked in the top 79 nationally in the hammer throw. Elijah Washington, Matthew Jackson, Art Jordan, Matt Faulise, Sarah Crockett, Alayna Fredenburg, Lainey Porter and Ellie Ramirez.
 
4x100m Relay: Brockport's women's 4x100m relay team of Aniya McGhie, Satin Holmes, Marissa Wise, and Sarah Levine ranks 46th nationally with a time of 49.12.
 
Raising the Bar: Brockport has three athletes ranked in the top 57 nationally in the high jump. Sarah Killip leads the way and is ranked 30th nationally with a clearance of 1.61m. Halle King and indoor national qualifier Michaela Levesque are tied for 57th nationally with a clearance of 1.58m.

Next Up: Brockport returns ot the track next Saturday when the Golden Eagles travel to the University of Rochester. The SUNYAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place on May 6th and 7th at SUNY Geneseo.
