Collegeville, PA – On Sunday, the Golden Eagles gymnastics squad defeated both Ursinus and Ithaca at the Ursinus Tri-Meet. They posted a score of 188.400, besting Ithaca's 187.300 and Ursinus' 184.675.
Brockport's first rotation of the meet was on the uneven bars, where the team scored a 46.175.
After posting an 8.350 last time out,
Emma Grace Sargent really bounced back this week with a 9.750 on the bars for the top score of the meet.
Gabbi Gare also improved upon her last week's score on the bars with a 9.425 to earn the third best score in the event. Teammate
Taylor Bushey was fourth on the bars with her season-best score of 9.400
Up next, the Green and Gold took a turn on the balance beam to post a score of 46.000. This would be the team's lowest event score of the meet.
Sydney Schumaker's score of 9.500 was Brockport's best score on the beam on Sunday. Her score was fifth for the event.
Natalie Galioto scored a 9.450 and
Maya Pecoraro put up a 9.350 for sixth and eighth respectively on the beam.
In the third rotation the Golden Eagles notched their highest event score of the day. They earned a score of 48.150 on the floor exercise. The squad turned in the top two scores on the floor, with two gymnasts breaking the 9.800 mark.
Kirsten Paultre had the best performance of the day on the floor, scoring a 9.825. Not only was it a jump from last week's 9.450, but Paultre also tied the highest individual floor exercise score in the country.
Teammate
Natalie Galioto also had a strong floor routine at the Ursinus Tri-Meet, coming up with a score of 9.800. She had the second-best score for the event on the day.
Kyra Figurelli and
Rachel Swick tied for the seventh best score on the floor with 9.625 down in Pennsylvania.
Then in the final rotation of the competition, Brockport scored a 48.075 on the vault to secure the top team score of the day at 188.400. The team turned in the four top individual scores for the event.
Kyra Figurelli takes first place with her vault score the second week in a row. She improved upon last week's mark with a score of 9.750 this time around.
Emma Grace Sargent and
Maren Eramo tied for second in the vault with a score of 9.625.
Sydney Schumaker rounds out the top four with her vault score of 9.550, up from her 9.425 from last week.
The Golden Eagles will be at home next weekend for another tri-meet. They will host Springfield and Ithaca at the Tuttle North Gymnastics Center on Saturday, January 28
th.
