Brockport, NY – Junior
Emma Grace Sargent won two events, helping lead the Golden Eagles to their first 190 score of the season as Brockport defeated Ithaca and Springfield College on Saturday at home.
Final Scores:
Brockport – 190.925
Springfield – 187.025
Ithaca – 186.025
How it Happened: Brockport would open up the meet on vault in dominant fashion posting a 48.150. The Golden Eagles would claim not just the top three, but the top five scores on the event. Sargent would lead the way, posting a 9.675, followed by junior
Maren Eramo with a 9.650. Junior
Sydney Schumaker rounded out the top three, posting a 9.625, while seniors
Lauren Blair and
Kyra Figurelli each posted a 9.600 to take a tie for fourth.
Brockport would carry that momentum into the second rotation, scoring 47.375, more than a full point higher than last week at Ursinus. Sargent would again lead the way for the Golden Eagles, winning the event with a 9.675. Junior
Taylor Bushey would claim second for Brockport, while seniors
Gabbi Gare and
Rachel Swick would share third, scoring 9.400.
Going into the third rotation, Brockport carried a small lead over Springfield College. The Golden Eagles would try to maintain that, led by junior
Natalie Galioto splitting the beam title with Maya Belog of Springfield. They each scored a 9.750 on the balance beam. However, that would be where Brockport's success on beam would fall short, as a very competitive top five was split between the schools. Ithaca's Emily Kobusky and Springfield's Devon Rosier would split third place, and Springfield's Winter Osborne would take fifth. Sophomore
Maya Pecoraro would be Brockport's second highest scorer, posting a 9.400. Freshman Cali Czaecinski would post a 9.375 in her collegiate debut.
Brockport and Springfield entered the final rotation holding a sizable lead over Ithaca, but tied with each other at 142.375. The Golden Eagles have the second highest scoring floor routine in Division III and showed why today. Brockport posted a 48.550 on the floor to close out the day. Ithaca's Cameryn Nichols would claim the floor title, scoring a 9.800. Senior
Lauren Blair would share third place with Springfield's Christina Wygonik, each scoring a 9.775. Seniors
Emmie White and
Kyra Figurelli would share fourth place, with a 9.725. Junior
Natalie Galioto would end in a tie for sixth place with a 9.675.
Brockport will return to action on February 5
th, when they head to Cortland for a tri-meet against Rhode Island College and the host Red Dragons. That meet is set to start at 12 PM. The Golden Eagles return home March 4
th, when they host Cornell and celebrate Senior Day.
