Field Hockey Prepares for Fisher and Oneonta

Brockport, NY - The Brockport field hockey team will open the week of action with a non-conference clash at home against St. John Fisher on Wednesday, October 4th at 7 pm. The Golden Eagles will head to Oneonta on Saturday, October 7th at 3 pm to wrap up this week's slate.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles split last week's contests, defeating Roberts Wesleyan on the road, 9-0, before falling to #18 Cortland, 4-0, at home on Saturday. Quinn Guy earned her second hat trick of the season against the Redhawks and Emmalee Moore contributed with six points of her own (2G, 2A). Madison Kirkpatrick recorded her first goal as a Golden Eagle, while goalies Katelynn Banning and Ella Buchanan played a half each. Banning made three saves with the two combining for a shutout effort.

Ella Buchanan turned in one of her best performances as a Golden Eagle, racking up 23 saves and holding the Red Dragons without multiple goals in each period. Defender Mary Young also contributed greatly with two defensive saves against Cortland. The Golden Eagles moved to 7-3 and 0-2 in SUNYAC play following last week's action.

No "I" In Team: Unselfish play has been the catalyst for the Golden Eagles' successful start, with Brockport ranking 1st in the SUNYAC in assists per game (2.3), and 17th nationally. Emmalee Moore leads the SUNYAC and ranks 7th nationally in assists per game (0.88) in addition to leading the Green and Gold with seven assists.

Straight Shooters: Through the first 10 games, three Golden Eagles have recorded a shot or better in every contest. Emmalee Moore, Bailey Lazore, and Kelsey Zehr make up the three for the Green and Gold, combining for 12 goals, 36 points, and 49 shots on goal.

Keeping Pace: Following her hat trick effort against Roberts Wesleyan, Quinn Guy has remained the SUNYAC leader in goals per game (1.0), and points per game (2.2), holding top 30 national rankings in both statistical categories.

Scouting St. John Fisher: The Cardinals sit at 4-5 with an undefeated 2-0 mark in Empire 8 competition, and are currently riding a 3-game winning streak. Fisher is led by senior Rileigh Luste and Junior Audrey Grieb. Luste ranks in the top 25 in the nation in defensive saves with 4, with Grieb leading the Cardinals in scoring with 6 goals. The Golden Eagles will enter Wednesday's contest looking for redemption, as well as their first win against Fisher since 2012.

Scouting Oneonta: The Red Dragons own a record of 4-5 with a 1-1 record in SUNYAC play. Oneonta will prepare for a non-conference road matchup with Keuka on Wednesday before returning home to faceoff with Brockport. Oneonta will look to extend their winning streak to three games ahead of Saturday's conference clash. Forward Morgan Fleming leads the charge for the Red Dragons, with a team-high in goals (8)and points (20). The Golden Eagles will look to swing to the head-to-head matchup in their favor, as the two teams have split the last two games.

Up Next: Following this week's action, Brockport will return home for a non-conference matchup with Elmira College on Wednesday, October 11th at 7 pm.
