Brockport, NY – On Tuesday, November 14
th the SUNY Brockport men's basketball team will begin the 2023-24 campaign. The Golden Eagles will be on the road for a 7:30pm tip-off against Hobart College out in Geneva, NY.

Clarke Taking Over: Following the retirement of Coach Dunne in September,
Joe Clarke was elevated to the Interim Head Coach of the Golden Eagles for the upcoming season. Clarke has previously held the title of Associate Head Coach and has been on the team's coaching staff since 2009. A former three-year member of the men's basketball team at Brockport, Clarke was part of the 2006-07 NCAA Elite Eight run and the 2008-09 SUNYAC Championship. Tuesday night's home opener will mark the start of a new era for the program and for Coach Clarke as he makes his head coaching debut.
Remembering Last Season: The 2022-23 season saw the Golden Eagles claim a record of 20-7 overall and 14-4 in SUNYAC play. They locked up the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament. After defeating Cortland, 65-53, in the semifinals, Brockport had its season ended in the finals by top-seeded Oswego, 74-63. Following the season the team was recognized with four All-Conference selections.

nd-Team), and
Jahidi Wallace (2
nd-Team) all earned the title of All-SUNYAC, while Grady also snagged Defensive Player of the Year.
All-Conference Returners: After earning All-SUNYAC accolades last season, both
Mekhi Beckett and
Tony Arnold are back wearing the Green and Gold for this year. Beckett led the Golden Eagles in multiple different categories in route to a 1st-Team All-SUNYAC selection. Beckett led Brockport in points per game (16.9), FGM/G (5.9), 3PM/G (2.5), and free throws made (93). His 67 made 3PT and 160 made FGs were both good for second overall in the SUNYAC. Arnold earned 2nd-Team All-SUNYAC for the Golden Eagles. The guard brought intensity to both sides of the ball for Brockport in 2023, ending the season as the SUNYAC steals leader and finishing 9
th in the conference in FG made. Arnold ended the season with a strong 12.9 ppg, 5.7 reb/g, and 2.7 steals per game.
Guess Who's Back: Brockport has seven other players returning to the squad this season. Last year's SUNYAC Elite 20 Award winner,
Colby Jordan is back after starting 26 of 27 games in 2022-23.

Jacob Oka,
Jakai White, and
Milo Scheve are all back as well after providing solid minutes off the bench last season. After missing the last couple seasons, the 2018-19 SUNYAC Rookie of the Year,
Danny Ashley, rejoins the team.
New Faces: This year's roster welcomes nine newcomers to the fold, including five freshmen and four junior transfers. The incoming freshman class is made up of
Christian Amica,
Nathaniel Gordon,
Alex Tavarez,
Caquan Wester, and
Demetre Burthculadze. The transfer include
My'Kell Kaigler (Fredonia),
Jevonny Brown (FMCC),
Nate Severson (ECC), and
Adewale Fasanmi (BMCC).
Road Trip to Start: The start of the 2023-24 schedule has Brockport on the road for its first five games. The squad travels for each game throughout the month of November. The road trip begins Tuesday at Hobart, before trips to take on Keystone and Salisbury this weekend. Prior to Thanksgiving Break, the Green and Gold heads downstate to play Hunter College on November 21
st. Finally the road trip comes to an end on November 28
th against Alfred University.
Starting SUNYAC Play at Home: After the long wait for their first home game, the Golden Eagles get the month of December started at The Vlog. They play the home opener on December 1
st, to begin SUNYAC play against Oneonta at 7:30pm that Friday. Conference play continues on December 2
nd, when New Paltz comes to town. Brockport faired well at The Vlog last season, going 9-3 on the home court.
Looking at Hobart: The Hobart Statesman began the season 2-0 with wins over both St. John Fisher (85-81) and Morrisville (66-63). They are shooting 46.1% from the field, 42.1% from long range, and just 65.9% from the foul line early on. #3 Pat Healy leads the way with an average of 19.0 points per game, while shooting 58.3% from deep. Healy made five shots from beyond the arc in the season opening win over Fisher on the way to a 28-point outing. Brockport has won the last three meetings with Hobart, including last season's 71-67 victory at home.
Up Next: The Golden Eagles are on the road again this weekend for a pair of non-conference games. They head to Keystone College on Friday for a 6pm game and then will play Salisbury University at 1pm on Saturday.
