Brockport, NY – On Tuesday, November 7th the Golden Eagle volleyball team will host Buffalo State for the opening round of the 2023 SUNYAC Tournament. The action gets started at 6pm at The Vlog, with the winner moving on to the semifinal round this weekend at Cortland.

Follow Along: Keep up with the action on Tuesday night with live stats and video for Brockport's 1st Round matchup with the Bengals. Check the following links to follow along: Live Stats | Live Video.

Back in the Postseason: In his first season with the program, Brockport's Head Coach Jim Clar clinched the No. 4 seed for the conference tournament. The Green and Gold are going back to the SUNYAC Tournament for a ninth year in a row.

Recent SUNYAC History: In the last three postseasons, the Golden Eagles have made it to the semifinal round all three times. This includes last year's run to the finals and a conference championship back in 2019. In 2021 the squad lost a five-set thriller to Geneseo in the semifinals. In 2022, Brockport pushed past New Paltz in the semis, 3-1, before losing to Cortland in the championship round. Currently with nine conference titles in program history, Brockport looks for number 10 this year.

Closing the Regular Season: Coach Clar finished up his first regular season with the Golden Eagles with an overall record of 15-13 to go with a 6-3 conference mark. They went undefeated on the home court in 2023 at 6-0. The regular season ended this past weekend as the team went 1-1 out at the Clark University Tri-Match. Brockport fell to Coast Guard, 3-1, to start the weekend before taking down Clark University, 3-2.

Team Leaders: Heading into the postseason, the Golden Eagles have multiple players who individually rank highly in different statical categories within the SUNYAC. Jordan Thompson lists first in the conference across the board in points (448.5), kills (381), total attempts (1067), and service aces (48). Freshman Kaitlyn Jewett has been solid all season long as the team's setter, ranking second in the conference in assists (704). Classmate Elsie Logan has impacted the team from the libero position, ranking third in the SUNYAC in digs (392).

Taking on the Bengals: The Buffalo State Bengals finished the regular season 16-11 overall and 5-4 in the conference, claiming the No. 5 seed for the postseason. They enter the first round of the tournament riding the momentum of a three-match win streak. Buffalo State closed out conference play with 3-0 sweeps over both Plattsburgh and Potsdam. The team then defeated the U of R, 3-2, this past weekend. Earlier this year, Brockport swept the Bengals, 3-0, to claim a 10th straight win in the head-to-head series.

Win or Go Home: Now that the Golden Eagles are in the postseason, the stakes are higher as a loss would bring the season to an end. Both Brockport and Buffalo State are fighting for a spot in the SUNYAC Semifinals, set to be hosted by top-seeded Cortland on Friday, November 10th. Cortland will also be hosting the championship round on Saturday.
