Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles will host a pair of games this week at the Wegmans Ice Arena on the campus of SUNY Brockport. We will host Morrisville at 7pm on Wednesday, December 6
th and then Elmira at 4pm on Saturday, December 9
th.
Alumni Weekend Recap: The Golden Eagles defeated the Buffalo State Bengals, 5-3, last Friday night in the annual Teddy Bear Toss Game.
Connor Galloway had a big night for the Green and Gold, finishing with four points in the game (2 goals, 2 assists). He got the party started with the first goal of the night at 10:44 into the first for the celebratory Teddy Bear Toss goal.
Josh Grund and
Scott Ramaekers assisted Galloway on the play, as Brockport took a 1-0 lead.
Matt Anastasio kept the momentum going with a power play goal at 14:21 into the first. Anastasio was assisted by
Jordan Rosenbaum and
Chase Maxwell. Brockport went into the first intermission up 2-0 over the visiting Bengals.
Buffalo State opened up the second with a goal at 3:53 into the period to make it a 2-1 score.
Scott Ramaekers earned his second point of the night with a goal at 8:51 into the second to put the squad up 3-1. Ramaekers was assisted by
Josh Grund and
Connor Galloway.
The Bengals would respond by scoring two more times in the second period, sending the game into the second intermission all tied up at 3-3.
Connor Galloway earned himself his second goal of the night at 5:23 into the third period unassisted. Six minutes later Galloway was on a breakaway and sent the puck across to Grund who earned his third point of the night and the final goal of the game. These two scores would create the final tally of 5-3, as Brockport earns two big points for the conference standings.
Dylan Wiemer earned his third win of the year after playing all 60:00 minutes on the ice tonight. Wiemer gave up three goals and made 18 saves between the pipes.
The Golden Eagles fell to the Fredonia Blue Devils, 4-3, in overtime on Saturday night. Brockport is now 4-7-1 overall and 2-5 in conference play.
Chase Maxwell got the ball rolling with a power play goal at 13:11 into the first period, assisted by
Jordan Rosenbaum and
Jacob Gates. Fredonia snapped back right at the end of the 1
st period sending the men into the first intermission tied, 1-1.
Fredonia scored twice to open up the second period, going on to take a 3-1 lead.
Michael Meredith sunk one into the net at 8:49 to cut into the deficit for Brockport. Meredith was assisted by
Ben Saurbaugh and
James Tilley on the play.
Cam Barbagallo scored Brockport's final goal of the night at 8:49 into the second period, assisted by
Josh Grund and
Connor Galloway.
Barbagallo's goal tied the game up at 3-3 where the score remained at the end of the second. The third period was scoreless and which sent the men into a 5:00 overtime period. Fredonia's Xavier Fortin scored the final goal of the game 48 seconds into the overtime period to give the Blue Devils the win.
Dylan Wiemer spent 60:48 minutes in goal, making 35 saves and allowing four goals.
Looking at the Mustangs: Morrisville is 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the conference heading into Wednesday's competition. They have a total of 31 goals and 388 shots so far this season and average 2.6 goals a game. The Mustangs are 12-for-54 on the power play and 41-for-53 on the penalty kill. Leading the team in points is #28 Abbott Curtis with two goals and seven assists. #24 Cameron Clark, #25 Stevie Gerbis, #22 Jacob Black and #21 Chris Mott each have four goals so far this season.
Between the pipes for the Mustangs is #35 Ryan Creenan, #31 Garrett Boyonoski and #1 Grant Linville. Creenan has seen 286:24 minutes on ice this season making 128 saves and allowing 13 goals, giving himself a save percentage of .908%. He averages 2.72 goals against a game and is 2-2 this season. Boyonoski has 369:32 minutes in goal this season making 250 saves and allowing 29 goals. Boyonoski has a save percentage of .869% and averages 4.71 goals against a game. He is 1-6 on the season. Linville has seen 58:42 minutes in goal this season making 22 saves and allowing four goals giving himself a save percentage of .846%.
Looking at the Soaring Eagles: Elmira is 10-2 overall and 4-2 in the NEHC. The Soaring Eagles have recorded 62 goals this season and 380 shots. They average 5.2 goals a game and 31.7 shots. Elmira is 13-for-35 on the power play and 34-for-43 on the penalty kill. Leading the team with 24 points is #8 Nicholas Domitrovic with 12 goals and 12 assists. #21 Janis Vizbelis is second on the team with nine goals and nine assists.
In goal for Elmira is #1 Brody Haynes, #30 Kyle Curtin and #31 Jeffery Zero. Haynes has seen 91:46 minutes on the ice making 50 saves and allowing two goals. He averages 1.31 goals against a game and has a saver percentage of .962%. Curtin has seen 539:13 minutes in goal this season making 294 saves, allowing 21 goals and averages 2.34 goals against a game. He has an overall save percentage of .933% and is 8-2 this season with one shutout. Zero has seen 90:25 minutes on the ice this season making 43 saves, allowing five goals, and averaging 3.32 goals against a game. He has an overall save percentage of .896%.
