Specialist of the Week: Earlier this week, the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) announced that Brockport's Kyra Figurelli was selected as the NCGA East Event Specialist of the Week.

Figurelli had an amazing performance with her routine on the floor exercise this past weekend at the meet in Cortland. She posted a 9.900 to win the event, marking her best of the season and the highest floor mark in the nation this season.

She matched her 2022 NCGA Floor National Title score to help the Golden Eagles defeat both Cortland and Rhode Island at the meet. Kyra is now ranked third in the nation with an average of 9.744 on the floor.

Road to Nationals Rankings: At this point in the season, Brockport's gymnastics squad currently ranks third in the nation and first in the northeast region with an average score of 189.081. Only UW-La Crosse and UW-Oshkosh are ahead of Brockport with averages marks of 190.325 and 189.915 respectively.

On the vault, the Green and Gold have two gymnasts in the top 10 in the nation. Maren Eramo ranks seventh with an average of 9.650 for the event. Teammate Emma Grace Sargent is right behind her in a tie for eighth nationally, averaging 9.619 on the vault.

Three more Golden Eagles have earned top 10 status on the floor so far this season. Lauren Blair's average score of 9.750 with her routine is second-best in the NCGA. Kyra Figurelli is close behind with an average of 9.744 on the floor, ranking third. Kirsten Paultre is in a three-way tie for sixth in the nation, averaging a 9.681 in the event.

Last Meet's Recap: This Golden Eagles gymnastics squad continued its undefeated season after beating both Cortland and Rhode Island on Sunday. They posted a score of 189.375, besting Cortland's 187.575 and Rhode Island's 185.950.

Brockport began the day on the bars, putting up the highest team score of the day on the event with a 47.650. The team had three of the top four performances on the bars. Rachel Swick and Emma Grace Sargent tied for second with a score of 9.725. This marks Swick's season-high on the bars. Gabbi Gare also hit a new season-best with a 9.600 in the event to place fourth.

In the second rotation, the Golden Eagles took their turn on the vault. Once again, they had the highest team score for the event at the meet, scoring a 47.850. Maren Eramo took the top spot on the vault with her season-best score of 9.675. Teammates Emma Grace Sargent and Sydney Schumaker tied for fourth place in the event, as both put up a 9.625.

After the first two rotations, Brockport owned a running score of 95.500 to have a lead halfway through the meet. Cortland had a running score of 92.900 and Rhode Island was at 90.850 at the midpoint.

The floor exercise was up next for the Golden Eagles, shining with their routines as usual. They posted their highest score this season with a 48.800, earning four of the top five individual scores. Kyra Figurelli had an amazing performance on the floor, posting a 9.900 to win the event. It is her best score of the year so far, matching her 2022 NCGA Championship performance in the event.

Kirsten Paultre's 9.800 also set a season-high for the event, which was good for third on the day. Rachel Swick hit a 9.750 with her routine on the floor, another season-best, to take fourth. In a tie for fifth, Lauren Blair scored a 9.725 for the Green and Gold.

Now with three events completed at the meet, Brockport was still in control of the top score with a 144.300. Cortland and Rhode Island had fallen behind with running scores of 139.800 and 137.400 respectively.

The squad's final rotation would put the ladies on the balance beam, where they earned a 45.075. Maya Pecoraro had the highest score for the team in the event, putting up her best of the year so far with a 9.450 for a fourth-place tie. Sydney Schumaker scored a 9.350 and teammate Natalie Galioto posted a 9.100.

Although Brockport had the lowest beam score at the meet, the team won the three other events which provided more than enough cushion. With a 189.375 final score, the Green and Gold still bested the other two competing squads.

Coming Up Next: Following the trip to Cornell this weekend, the Golden Eagles will prepare for the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational on Sunday, February 19th. Ithaca College will host the meet, starting at 2pm, with Brockport, Rhode Island, and Ursinus all traveling to compete.
