Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's track and field team is in second place with 52 points after the opening day of the SUNYAC Indoor Championships.
Sarah Crockett defends her indoor weight throw title, taking gold once again. On her second attempt she threw a 17.18 to claim first place in the event. She scores Brockport 10 team points for her performance.
Teammates
Emma Kinnicutt and
Katrina Chandler combined for 10 more points from the weight throw event. Kinnicutt placed second with a 15.40, while Chandler took seventh with a 14.48.
Kerry Flower scored six points for the Green and Gold with her third-place finish in the 5000-meter. She clocked in at 17:36.54 for the fourth fastest time in program history.
Freshman
Leah Siegmann hits a personal record time of 18:41.55 in the 5000-meter, hitting the regional qualifying standard.
In the distance medley relay, Brockport's squad took second with a regional standard mark of 12:51.86. The team consisted of
Emma Mathes,
Kaylee Haynes,
Veronica Dailey, and
Sarah Davis.
Three pole vaulters scored for the Golden Eagles to total 13 points.
Mya Henry took bronze with a third place mark of 3.20. Teammates
Tess Eichner and
Ciara Murphy finished in fourth and seventh places respectively.
Coming in sixth in the triple jump,
Alanah Bryant snagged three points with a leap of 10.31 meters.
Madison Baker scored two points with her seventh-place finish in the women's pentathlon. She earned a total of 2,598 points in the event. Baker's 60-meter hurdles time of 10.01 also qualified her for the event finals on Saturday.
Sarah Levine and
Clara Sensini both move on to the finals for the 400-meter on day two. Levine ran a 59.74 for third and Sensini ran a 1:00.80 for fourth in the prelims.
In the 60-meter dash, Brockport had two of the top three preliminary times.
Mia Montgomery enters the finals on Saturday as the top seed with her 7.82 time on Friday.
Sarah Levine is close behind in third with her prelim time of 7.93.
Levine also qualified for the finals of the 200-meter, thanks to the seventh-fastest prelim time of 26.38.
The Golden Eagles are back at their home facility of The SERC on Saturday for the second and final day of the SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The first events of the meet are set to begin at 10:30am.
