Brockport, NY – On Saturday, the women's track and field team completed the final day of the SUNYAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. Brockport placed second with 130.5 team points, behind only the conference champions from Geneseo (275.5 points).
Mia Montgomery claimed the conference title in the 60-meter dash. She took the gold medal with a time of 7.94 in the event finals. Teammate
Sarah Levine placed seventh in the event with an 8.12. Montgomery and Levine combined for 12 points in the race.
Sarah Crockett earned her second gold medal of the weekend, repeating as champion in the shot put event. She threw a 13.34 to score 10 points with her first-place finish.
Maleenah Ortiz took sixth with a 11.81, adding three more points for the squad.
Sarah Killip tied for second in the high jump event, earning a silver medal. She hit a clearance height of 1.57 meters to grab seven points. Teammate
Michaela Levesque added 4.5 points for Brockport in the event, tying for fourth place with a mark of 1.52.
In the women's 800-meter event,
Jennifer Metz passed the runner from Geneseo right before the finish line to take silver. She finished in 2:17.14, just 0.09 ahead of the third-place runner. Metz's personal-best time for the event is now the third fastest 800-meter time in program history.
Brockport's 4x400 squad of
Clara Sensini,
Courtney Bostic,
Jennifer Metz, and
Sarah Levine earned silver by running a 4:00.51. They scored eight big points for the team in the event.
Sarah Levine took the bronze medal from the 400-meter event, running a third-place time of 59.27.
Clara Sensini earned fourth with a 59.48 PR, as the two Golden Eagles combined to score 11 team points.
Also in the 800-meter,
Vanessa Ramos hit a PR with a 2:21.10. She scored two points with a seventh-place finish, recording the seventh-best time in program history for the event.
Mia Vizcaino and
Emma Mathes scored five points combined from the women's mile event. Vizcaino placed fifth with a 5:22.74 personal record time. Mathes also hit a PR with a 5:23.55 to take eighth.
In the long jump,
Mia Montgomery scored three more points with a sixth place leap of 5.21 meters.
Madison Baker took eighth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.10 for one point from the event.
Snagging four more points for Brockport,
Sarah Levine took fifth in the 200-meter with a time of 26.51.
Now the Golden Eagles prepare for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Indoor Championships on March 3
rd and 4
th. They will head to New York City as the individuals who qualified will compete in the regional meet.
