Rotation Order:
Brockport – Bars, Bye, Vault, Floor, Bye, Beam
Cortland – Vault, Bars, Bye, Beam, Floor, Bye
Rhode Island College – Bye, Vault, Bars, Bye, Beam, Floor
Vault: Senior
Kyra Figurelli leads Brockport's high flying vault group that has led the NCGA all season. The Golden Eagles average a 48.108 on the event, and are coming off a season high 48.150. Figurelli is tied for fourth in the country, averaging a 9.692. Juniors
Maren Eramo and
Emma Grace Sargent follow close behind, ranked seventh and ninth respectively (average 9.642/9.617). During last week's meet, Brockport claimed all top five spots on the vault, with all five gymnasts earning a 9.600 or higher.
Uneven Bars: At the start of the season, Brockport fans had to be thinking that they could only go up after a rough start on the bars. So far, that has rung true. The Golden Eagles have gone up by more than a full point each week, breaking the 47.000 mark last meet with a score of 47.375. Brockport currently sits fourth in the NCGA and first in the east region on the event with a 46.192 average. However all the momentum is in this groups favor to start climbing. The squad claimed the top four spots and six of the top seven spots last meet.
Emma Grace Sargent has posted the third highest score in the NCGA so far this year with a 9.750. Average wise, senior
Gabbi Gare ranks 16
th with a 9.392, while juniors
Taylor Bushey and
Maren Eramo taking 17
th and 18
th respectively.
Beam: Brockport has averaged a 46.567 over the season on the balance beam. The squad is led by junior
Natalie Galioto in the event and has significant experience from
Emmie White and
Sydney Schumaker. With three talented veterans on the event, look for them to step it up a notch by the time the season ends. Last meet freshman
Cali Czarcinski made her collegiate debut last week, posting a 9.375, to provide an infusion of youth to this veteran core on the beam.
Floor: Brockport continues to shine with a group of elite routines on the floor exercise. The Golden Eagles have the top ranked floor group in the NCGA, and are the only team to be averaging above a 48.000 this season. Brockport is coming off of a season high 48.550, led by senior
Lauren Blair's career high 9.775. Just behind Blair, who now leads the national rankings, is fellow senior and defending national champion
Kyra Figurelli (third, 9.692 average). Juniors
Natalie Galioto (T- fourth, 9.683 average) and
Kirsten Paultre (T- tenth, 9.642 average) each rank in the top ten as well. Senior
Emmie White was just shy of her career high last week as well, scoring a 9.725.
About Cortland: Don't let the 186.292 average that Cortland has fool you. The Red Dragons have improved their teams scores by more than a full point each week. Coming off a trip to Division II Westchester, Cortland will be looking to build off their second-place finish and 187.750 score. The team has been led by a dual-threat of veteran experience and an infusion of youth. Senior Glynis Curcione leads the country on bars with a 9.692 average, as well as ranking tenth on the beam. Freshman all-arounder Gianna Mirigliano averages a 37.000, including ranking sixth on vault. Cortland as a team doesn't rank particularly high, but has the pieces to be able to put together a very competitive meet.
About Rhode Island College: The Anchorwomen have had a tough start to their season. Not just in their scores, but in the fact that three of their four meets have had at least one Division II or I school in it. The team is coming off a meet that was hosted by Division I Brown, and included Division II Bridgeport and Southern Connecticut. The inconsistency in their scores is slightly concerning, as they average just 184.738. However the team's next two meets with just east region opponents will tell a clearer story for this team. The All-Around tandem of senior Kelsey Gates and junior Olivia Keyes has picked up right where it left off last year as both are averaging over 37.100. Keyes currently ranks second in the all-around and third on the beam, while Gates ranks second on the floor.
Up Next: Brockport heads to Division I Cornell for a quad meet with the Big Red, Cortland and Ithaca next week. That meet is set to start at 1PM on February 12
th.
