Men's Basketball Travels for SUNYAC Road Set

Brockport, NY- The Brockport men's basketball team will travel to Oneonta to face the Red Dragons on Friday, February 10th at 7:30 pm. The Golden Eagles will end their weekend slate at New Paltz with a 4:00 pm matchup with the Hawks on Saturday.

22 Consecutive Postseason Trips: Recently the Green and Gold clinched a spot in the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament with a record of 12-2 in conference play. This marks the 22nd year in a row that Brockport has made the postseason. At 17-4 overall, the squad is still fighting for the top seed with just four regular season games remaining to play. Oswego currently owns the top spot in the standings with a record of 14-1 in the SUNYAC, while Brockport is right behind at second in the standings.

Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles overcame a 7-point deficit with just 2:41 remaining to steal a victory from the upset-minded Plattsburgh Cardinals, 67-66. Brockport overcame a sluggish offensive performance, shooting 39.1% from the floor and committing 21 turnovers in the contest. Rebounding proved to be the difference maker for Brockport, out-rebounding Plattsburgh 16-6 on the offensive glass and 46-34 overall. The win put the team at 17-4 overall on the season, as the regular season winds down.

Backcourt Duo: In desperate need of instant offense, the Golden Eagles' starting backcourt duo of Colby Jordan and Tony Arnold  were up to the task.  Down seven points to Plattsburgh, the duo accounted for the final 11 points for Brockport in the last two minutes of regulation. This included Arnold's game-winning basket with 14 ticks left on the clock. Jordan finished with 10 points on 50% shooting from the floor along with 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Arnold finished with a game-high 24 points on 55% shooting and seven rebounds.

Against Oneonta: The first meeting between the Golden Eagles and Red Dragons ended in a thrilling, 65-63, victory for Brockport. The win was fueled by the late-game heroics of Tony Arnold who sunk a go-ahead layup with just one second remaining. Oneonta will enter the contest coming off back-to-back road losses at Cortland and Oswego. The Red Dragons currently sit in 4th place in the SUNYAC with a 9-5 conference record, having already clinched a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament. They are led by senior forward Joseph Bull, who is averaging a double-double with 16.2 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest.  
 
Against New Paltz: Brockport came away with a close victory against New Paltz in the first meeting by the score of, 82-79. The Golden Eagles were led by David Grady III who poured in 23 points on an efficient 7/9 from the floor. New Paltz enters the matchup on a two-game slide after an embarrassing 112-53 loss on the road at Oswego, before dropping a close contest on the road at Cortland, 74-71. The Hawks enter the matchup 8-6 in SUNYAC play and is looking to cement its spot in the SUNYAC tournament. They are headed offensively by junior guard Rylan Blondo who has started every game for the Hawks and averages 16.1 points per game.  
 
Up Next: Following this weekend of action, the Golden Eagles will be back home to finish the regular season. On February 17th  at 7:30 pm they take on Oswego, followed by a matchup against Buffalo State on February 18th at 4:00 pm.
