Gymnastics Finishes 5th at Nationals, Earns 5 Podium Finishes & 4 Gain All-American Status

Winona, MN – The SUNY Brockport gymnastics team took fifth place on Saturday at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships. The Golden Eagles scored a 189.225 on the day, while the national champions from UW-Oshkosh posted a 192.525.

The top eight on each event and in the all-around (including ties) from the NCGA National Championships earned All-American status. Brockport had four gymnasts earn All-American status at the meet.

Sydney Schumaker (Vault), Kyra Figurelli (Vault), Emma Grace Sargent (Vault & Bars), and Maren Eramo (Vault) all received All-American recognition on Saturday.

The Golden Eagles conclude their season with a fifth-place finish at nationals with their score of 189.225. They finished the regular season 15-3 in dual competition, tying the 2022 program record for most wins in a season. With a score of 192.200 a couple weeks back, Brockport won its third straight NCGA East Regional Title.

Sydney Schumaker – Vault All-American
For the second consecutive year, Schumaker earns All-American honors at nationals on the vault. She took second place in the event this time around, scoring a 9.775. She was key in Brockport's vault score of 48.550, the highest team score in the event.

Kyra Figurelli – Vault All-American
Last year's floor national champion adds All-American recognition on the vault to her list of career accolades. On Saturday she posted a score of 9.750 to take fifth place for the event.

Emma Grace Sargent – Vault & Bars All-American
Earning All-American at nationals for the first time in her career, Sargent earned recognition for both the vault and the uneven bars. Her score of 9.700 tied for eighth on the vault. Emma also earned a mark of 9.725 for third on the bars to become a two-event All-American for 2023.

Maren Eramo – Vault All-American
Eramo also earns her first career All-American honor, also on the vault to match her teammates. She tied for eighth as well with her score of 9.700 in the event at the championship meet.

Brockport's vault lineup scored a 48.550, the highest of all teams at the NCGA Championships this weekend. Schumaker (9.775), Figurelli (9.750), Sargent (9.700), and Eramo (9.700) all earned podium finishes for the event.

On the bars, the squad finished with a score of 45.975 on the day. Sargent (9.725) led the way for the lineup with her efforts. Rachel Swick just missed out on a podium spot for the event with a 9.600 to tie for ninth. Gabbi Gare had the team's third-best mark on the bars with a 9.450.

Brockport ended up scoring a 46.650 on the balance beam out in Minnesota. Maya Pecoraro and Sydney Schumaker both tied for the team's top scores, recording marks of 9.600. Emmie White and Natalie Galioto both were above a 9.000 with scores of 9.350 and 9.225 respectively.

The Green and Gold was able to earn a team score of 48.050 working on the floor exercise. Lauren Blair cracked the top 10, but missed out on a podium finish, tying for 10^th in the event with a 9.750. Figurelli scored a 9.700, while White and Galioto both registered a 9.550. Swick was close by with her 9.500.

Final Team Scores
