Brockport, NY – It was Senior Day on Saturday for the Golden Eagles gymnastics team, as they welcomed Cornell and Cortland for tri-meet. Brockport's score of 192.000 was enough to defeat Cortland's 186.950, but was just shy of Cornell's 192.125.
While the final scores were being tallied, Brockport took time to honor its six graduating seniors. This year's senior class included
Madison Baker,
Lauren Blair,
Kyra Figurelli,
Gabbi Gare,
Rachel Swick, and
Emmie White.
In the first rotation of the meet, Brockport took to the vault. The squad scored a 48.625 for the event, the highest vault team score of the day.
Maren Eramo led the effort with a 9.800, tied for the highest vault score at the meet.
Sydney Schumaker was close behind with a 9.750. Both putting up a 9.700,
Kyra Figurelli and
Emma Grace Sargent were part of a three-way tie for fifth on the vault.
Lauren Blair added a 9.675.
With a 47.700 on the bars in the second rotation, Brockport had the highest score at the meet with a 96.325 after two events. The team's work on the uneven bars was once again the best team score on the event.
Scoring a 9.725 on the bars,
Taylor Bushey placed second in the event. Teammates
Rachel Swick and
Emma Grace Sargent posted a 9.675 to enter a three-way tie for third place.
Gabbi Gare contributed with a mark of 9.350 and
Sydney Schumaker registered a 9.275 on the event.
Up next was the balance beam, where the Green and Gold scored a 46.675. After the third event the team was just .600 behind Cornell with a running score of 143.000.
Tied for fourth,
Natalie Galioto finished her routine on the beam with a score of 9.600.
Maya Pecoraro earned a 9.450 and
Olivia Stinnette scored a 9.400.
Emmie White added her score of 9.250, while
Miranda LaRobardiere contributed an 8.975.
The Golden Eagles hit a new season-high score on the floor with a 49.000 to complete the day with a final score of 192.000.
Kyra Figurelli celebrated her Senior Day meet with a career-high 9.925 on the floor, tying the school record for the event. She earned first place in the event on the day. Fellow senior
Lauren Blair got in on the celebration with a career-high 9.900 on the floor for second in the event.
Rachel Swick,
Maya Pecoraro, and
Natalie Galioto all tied with a 9.725 with their routines at the meet.
Looking for a third straight regional title, Brockport is back in action next weekend at the NCGA East Regional Championships.
