Oneonta, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's track and field team is sitting in second place with 62 team points following the first day of action at the SUNYAC Championships on Friday.
Mia Montgomery broke a school record and was crowned the SUNYAC Champion for the long jump. She leaped a personal-record 5.81m at the event.
With a time of 36:59.37,
Kerry Flower claimed the conference title for the women's 10,000m event.
Rebecca Heuler was also crowned the SUNYAC Champion thanks to a javelin throwing distance of 37.39m.
There were three Brockport athletes that finished inside the to five for the hammer throw.
Katrina Chandler took second with a personal-record distance of 48.12m.
Emma Kinnicutt took third with a 46.73, while
Sarah Crockett earned fourth with a 46.18.
Tess Eichner was able to earn the bronze medal with a third-place mark of 3.20m in the pole vault.
Sarah Levine earned a spot in the finals for the 100m dash thanks to her time of 12.64 in the preliminary races for the event. In the first round of the 800m,
Jennifer Metz ran a 2:17.51 for the third fastest mark to get into the finals.
With a 26.02 in the prelims,
Marissa Wise earned a spot in the finals with the fifth fastest time from day one.
Three runners have qualified for the finals of the 400m event, which will be held on Saturday.
Sarah Levine's 58.93 is a personal-best and is the third best time from the prelims.
Clara Sensini ran a 59.26 for the third best prelim time, while
Marissa Wise holds the seventh best time of 1:00.11.
With 1,716 points so far,
Madison Baker is in fifth place in the heptathlon after four events.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday, starting at 10am for the final day of action at the SUNYAC Championships.
