Brockport, NY - The SUNY Brockport field hockey team will wrap up its 3-game road trip on Wednesday, September 13
th at 4 pm against Utica. Following the road game, the Golden Eagles return home for Senior Day against Wells College on Friday, September 15
th at 4 pm.
Last Time Out: The Golden Eagles went 2-0 over the weekend, securing wins over RPI and Russell Sage.
Tiffany Andres scored a clutch goal in the 4
th to put Brockport ahead late 2-1 against RPI. Ella Buchannan's save with 33 seconds left sealed the Brockport win over RPI.
Emmalee Moore led the Green and Gold in shots (4), shots on goal (2), and picked up an assist on the day. Against Russell Sage, the offense took control, with Moore and
Paige Thowe scoring two goals each. A goal from
Quinn Guy in the 4
th gave the Golden Eagles the 5-3 win. The Green and Gold nearly tripled the Gator's shots on goal (20-7), and Buchanan picked up her 4
th win of the year making three saves.
Early Leaders: The Golden Eagles have several players who rank among the SUNYAC best to begin the 2023 season.
Emmalee Moore ranks second in the SUNYAC overall in points (9) and is tied with fellow Golden Eagles
Quinn Guy and
Paige Thowe for 2
nd in the SUNYAC in goals (3).
Ella Buchanan ranks among the SUNYAC best goalies in numerous statistical categories including 2
nd in average goals allowed (0.56) and goals allowed per game (.50). Buchanan also ranks 3
rd in the SUNYAC in SV% (.80) and 2
nd in minutes played (215:39).
Defensive Athlete of the Week: On Monday, September 11
th, the SUNYAC announced that
Ella Buchanan was the Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week. Buchanan shutout Nazareth en route to a 3-0 week as the starter in net for the Golden Eagles, saving 77% of the shots she faced for a total of seven saves.
Senior Day: Following the road matchup with Utica, the Golden Eagles will honor seniors for their dedication to the Brockport Field Hockey program. The Green and Gold will hold a short ceremony pregame to celebrate
Bailey Lazore,
Taylor Weber, and
Jillian Owens for their accomplishments as members of the team.
Scouting Utica: The Pioneers have started 1-3 in the 2023 season, most recently picking up their first win of the year with a 9-0 victory over Morrisville State. Utica is led offensively by Alyssa Pisano, who leads the Pioneers with 5 goals and 10 points on the season. Brockport will look for more of the same from their 2022 meeting where Brockport took down Utica at home 6-2.
Scouting Wells: The Express have gotten off to a frustrating 0-3 start as they look to improve from last year's 1-11 record. Dating back to 2010, Brockport has completely dominated the head-to-head series against Wells, going 8-0 over that string and outscoring the Express 29-1 across the last 3 meetings.
