Box Score Brockport, NY - On Friday, the Golden Eagles field hockey team defeated Wells College, 8-0, on Senior Day. Brockport is now off to a 6-0 start for the first time in program history.
Prior to the start of the game, the Brockport seniors were recognized and celebrated in a short Senior Day ceremony.
Bailey Lazore,
Jillian Owens, and
Taylor Weber were honored.
Quinn Guy set the table for the Green and Gold, picking up where she left off in Utica with an unassisted goal 5:42 into the first. Guy leads all Golden Eagles in goals (7) and points (16).
Tiffany Andres recorded back-to-back games with two goals, finding the back of the net twice in the first. Andres had assists coming from
Paige Thowe and
Kelsey Zehr to put Brockport ahead 3-0.
Gianna Salerno added another goal in the first with 2 seconds remaining to put the Golden Eagles ahead 4-0 after the 1
st.
The Golden Eagles would continue to dominate in the second, with
Gianna Salerno,
Kalena Eaton, and
Kelsey Zehr all recording goals in the 2
nd period. Eaton and Thowe both assisted in the quarter.
Freshman
Mia Herman would round out the scoring in the 1
st half, scoring her first goal as a member of the Green and Gold and putting Brockport ahead 7-0 at the break.
The Golden Eagles looked to drain the clock in the second half, but not before
Sophia Jones would bury a
Bailey Lazore feed to score her first as a Golden Eagle, and finish the scoring for Brockport at 8-0.
Katelynn Banning appeared in her second straight start, playing the full 60 minutes and earning a shutout victory as she moves to 2-0 on the year. Wells College goalie Sadie Combs contributed a strong effort in the loss, saving 12 shots.
The Golden Eagles left no doubt on the field, outshooting the Express 36-2 along with earning 12 more penalty corners (12-1).
Brockport will look to build off of its historical start when it heads to Ithaca for a clash with the Bombers under the lights on Wednesday, September 20
th at 7 pm.
