Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport volleyball team will host RIT on Tuesday at 6pm for the first home match of the season. This comes ahead of a trip to Pennsylvania for the Messiah University Tournament this weekend.
 
First Home Game for Clar: Head Coach Jim Clar will get to play his first match at the Jim and John Vlogianitis since taking over the program at Brockport. Spending plenty of time on the road to start the season, the squad is currently 2-6 overall heading into the home opener.
 
Last Time Out: In their last outing, the Golden Eagles came up shy in a hard-fought match against St. John Fisher. They went up 1-0 after a hard-fought win in the first set, 25-23. The hosting Cardinals bounced back with wins in the second and third set 25-21 and 25-19. Brockport would sneak out a 25-23 win in the fourth set, sending the match to a fifth. Fisher ultimately outlasted the Green and Gold, 15-12, in the final set to clinch the win.
 
Attacking Leaders: Jordan Thompson is first for Brockport in kills and points. Averaging 4.02 points a set, the lefty has a total of 120.5 points. Her 109 kills has equated to an average of 3.63 kills per set. Alenna Williamson is second on the team with 49 kills and 54 points. Alexis Sison is close behind with 50.5 points and 46 kills.
 
Allen on the Assist: Ashley Allen has shined as the starting setter for the Golden Eagles early this season. With a total of 179 assists, she is averaging 5.97 assists per set. Allen set a new career-high against John Carroll with 41 assists in the match.
 
Keep Digging: Elsie Logan's 80 digs through eight matches is tops on the squad. She is currently averaging 2.86 digs per set. Gianna Felipe is second on the team in digs with 69 so far this campaign. Jordan Thompson is close behind with 55, ranking third for the Green and Gold.
 
In the Middle: Jayda Pyle is leading the team in blocks so far this year. Getting up for 11 block assists, she totals 11 for a team-best. Jordan Thompson has contributed with nine total blocks. Alenna Williamson and setter Ashley Allen each have eight total.
 
Looking at RIT: The RIT Tigers enter Tuesday night's matchup with a record of 3-7 overall. Currently on a four-game losing streak, RIT went without a win last weekend at its own invitational. Brockport has won eight matches in a row against the Tigers from Rochester, including two sweeps during the run. Last season the Golden Eagles went on the road to snag a 3-1 win over RIT.
 
Messiah Tournament: On Friday the Green and Gold will take on Messiah at 7pm for the start of the weekend slate. Saturday will bring about a 1pm meeting with Rowan and a 3pm matchup against Gettysburg. The Messiah Falcons come into the week with a record of 7-2, Rowan is 2-7, and Gettysburg owns a mark of 8-2 ahead of the weekend.
