Volleyball Heads to William Smith for More Tournament Action

Brockport, NY- The Brockport women's volleyball team will hit the road to compete in the William Smith Tournament from September 8th-9th in Geneva, NY. The Golden Eagles will take on Thiel College on Friday at 4 pm, before taking on Hartwick College on Saturday at 3:30 pm. Brockport will wrap up the tournament against host William Smith on Saturday at 6 pm.
 
Last Time Out: Brockport competed in the Mount Union Tournament last weekend in Alliance, OH. Brockport fell to 0-4 on the season following the Mount Union Tournament, falling to John Carroll (3-2) and Albion College (3-0) on Friday, before losing to Marietta College (3-0) and Mount Union (3-0) on Saturday. Jordan Thompson led the weekend in kills (42), PTS/S (3.39), and TA (125). On the defensive side, Sophomore Gianna Felipe led the way, leading the Green and Gold in digs (41), and digs per set (2.93). In the opening match of the tournament against John Carroll, Ashley Allen posted a career-high in assists with 41.
 
William Smith Tournament: For the first time in program history, the William Smith College volleyball team will host a multi-team tournament in their second season of varsity placement. Scouting Thiel College: The Tomcats have begun the season 0-6, beginning the season in the Virginia Wesleyan Tournament in Virginia Beach and dropping all 4 matches 3-0. Friday will mark just the 4th time Brockport has faced Thiel College. The Golden Eagles dominated last year's matchup against the Tomcats 3-0.
 
Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks started the season taking part in the Cortland Red Dragon Classic, going 1-2 with an opening match win against St. Lawrence, before dropping to Rochester (0-3) and Cortland (1-3). Saturday will mark the first matchup between the Hawks and Golden Eagles since 2015. Brockport was victorious in the 2015 matchup 3-0.
 
Scouting William Smith: The hosting Herons opened their 2023 season in Quincy, MA, beginning the season 2-1 with wins over Linfield University and Western New England University. Brockport faced off with William Smith in 2022, winning a competitive match 3-2.
 
Up Next: Following the tournament in Geneva, NY, the Golden Eagles will head to Rochester to face off with St. John Fisher on Tuesday, September 12th.
