Brockport, NY – On Saturday, January 12
th the SUNY Brockport gymnastics team will officially begin the new season. The Golden Eagles will host Ithaca College for the first meet of the year, starting at 2pm.
Recapping Last Year: Last season Brockport went on to win a third consecutive NCGA East Regional Title. The squad went on to earn fifth place at the NCGA Championships to conclude the year. In dual competition the Green and Gold posted a record of 15-3. Brockport won nine of the first 10 clashes and went on to find success during championship season. The team won the region with a first place score of 192.200 before scoring a 189.225 for fifth at nationals. At the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational, the group scored a 193.250 for the program's highest meet score since 2019.
Individual Titles & More: At regionals the Golden Eagles claimed two individual regional titles, with
Sydney Schumaker winning the vault and
Emma Grace Sargent placing first on the bars. On the national stage, four different gymnasts claimed All-American status:
Sydney Schumaker (Vault),
Kyra Figurelli (Vault),
Emma Grace Sargent (Vault & Bars), and
Maren Eramo (Vault). The WCGA selected Schumaker, Sargent, and Figurelli as 1
st-Team All-American, while Eramo and
Natalie Galioto earned 2
nd-Team nods.
Academic Excellence: Last year five Golden Eagles earned NCGA Academic All-American status for their work in the classrooms.

Kyra Figurelli,
Gabbi Gare,
Rachel Swick, and
Emmie White all maintained cumulative GPAs of 3.4 or higher. To further highlight the academic excellence of Brockport gymnastics, 16 gymnasts earned the WCGA Scholastic All-America Award. The following Brockport gymnasts earned further recognition for maintaining the highest standard in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA:

Emmie White,
Rachel Swick,
Maya Pecoraro, and
Laken Sooy. The other 11 academic award winners from Brockport held a 3.5 or higher GPA:

All-American Returners: Brockport is fortunate to be returning three gymnasts that earned All-American status last year.
Emma Grace Sargent snagged a podium finish at nationals in two events. She took third on the uneven bars (9.725) and eighth on the vault (9.700). Sargent was also named WCGA DIII North East Region 1
st-Team All-American as the East Region Champion on the bars.
Maren Eramo is also back for the Green and Gold. With a an eighth place finish on the vault (9.700) she earned All-American status. Eramo added WCGA DIII North East Region 2
nd-Team All-American as well.
Natalie Galioto joined Eramo with a 2
nd-Team All-American nod, earning the honor for a second straight year.
Filling Out the Roster: The Golden Eagles have a solid mix of experienced returners to go with some new young talent. They welcome back
Taylor Bushey,
Marina DelVecchio,
Kirsten Paultre, and
Rachel Swick to join the All-American returners to make up the senior class. The group of juniors is made up of
Aladiana Tosado,
Olivia Stinnette,
Laken Sooy,
Maya Pecoraro, and
Miranda LaRobardiere. The underclassmen list consists of
Grace Briles,
Kiara Hockman,
Lienna Kay,
Julia Klucinec,
Maddalyn Mattis,
Taylor Pawlenko,
Eliana Wannall,
Gracie Weaver,
Claire Wood,
Phenix Wyche, and
Sarah Zupanek.
Schedule Layout: After the season opener against Ithaca at home this weekend, Brockport will be on the road for a few weeks, heading to Rhode Island (Jan. 20
th) and West Chester (Jan. 27
th). On February 3
rd the squad returns to its home gym to host SUNY Cortland. Next up is a trip to Cornell on February 11
th and Ithaca on the 18
th. The regular season ends with two home meets on February 25
th and March 1
st. The NCGA East Regional will be on March 9
th, hosted by Ithaca. All roads lead to the NCGA Championships on March 23
rd down in Collegeville, PA.
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will be on the road for their next outing on Saturday, January 20
th. They head to Providence, RI for a clash with Rhode Island College.
