Brockport Gymnastics to Compete in West Chester Quad Down in PA

Brockport, NY – On Saturday the Golden Eagles gymnastics team will get busy down in Pennsylvania at the West Chester Quad, hosted by West Chester University of Pennsylvania. Brockport will compete against West Chester, Cortland, and Ithaca beginning at 1pm.

Undefeated Start: So far this season Brockport has been victorious against all four teams the squad has met in competition. At 4-0, the Green and Gold has earned wins over Ithaca, Rhode Island, Cortland, and Springfield. The team looks to add a second win against both Cortland and Ithaca this weekend.
 
NCGA East Gymnasts of the Week: The National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) announced the NCGA East Gymnasts of the Week on Monday. Emma Grace Sargent was chosen as the Event Specialist Gymnast of the Week and Lienna Kay was named the All-Around Gymnast of the Week.
 
Over the weekend, Emma Grace Sargent placed first in two events for Brockport at the Rhode Island College Quad. She first scored a 9.700 on the vault, winning the event at the meet. Then Emma went on to post a 9.700 again on the uneven bars for first place in the event.
 
At the Rhode Island College Quad, Lienna Kay scored a 36.050 in the all-around competition to place fourth. Her best score of the meet was a 9.300 on the bars. Kay also posted scores of 9.050 on the beam, 8.900 on the floor, and an 8.800 on the vault.
 
Last Meet Highlights: The Green and Gold put forth its best performance of the meet on the vault, scoring a 47.650 to win the event. Emma Grace Sargent scored a 9.700 as the event winner. Teammates Kirsten Paultre and Maren Eramo both earned marks of 9.575 to tie for second place on the vault.
 
Brockport's second strongest event of the day was a 47.200 score on the floor exercise. Natalie Galioto and Laken Sooy both scored a 9.625 with their routines to lead the team's effort on the floor.
 
The Golden Eagles posted the highest score of the meet on the bars, posting a 47.125. Emma Grace Sargent took first place once again, hitting a 9.700 to win her second event of the day. Taylor Bushey placed third on the bars with her score of 9.500.
 
On the balance beam the squad finished with a score of 46.400. With a 9.500 on the beam, Natalie Galioto posted Brockport's highest mark for the event on Saturday. Laken Sooy had the next best score for the team, earning a 9.350.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles will be ready to host Cortland on Saturday, February 3rd for their next meet.
