Brockport, NY – The Brockport men and women's cross country teams traveled to Houghton for the Highlander Invitational on Saturday. The men took fourth place in their 8k race and women placed sixth in their 6k race.
For the men, five runners earned points for the team. Senior
Jared Smith took first for the Golden Eagles and eighth overall with a well-earned time of 26:01.2.
Howie Vargas crossed the line coming in second place for Brockport with a personal record (PR) of 26:44.9.
Ben Betrus clinched third for the team with a PR of 27:39.0 and just one second after came
Matt Quinn across the line also with a PR of 27:40.7.
Connor Demo came in fifth for the team with yet another PR of 27:58.3.
For the women's race, Jillian Humphrey took first for the Green and Gold with a deserved time of 26:28.7. Only three second later, Sophia Maum followed with a PR of 26:31.0.
Vanessa Ramos also earned a PR of 26:58.1 and just a second later Abigail Polus crossed the line with a PR of 27:00.1.
Jennifer Reagan brought in fifth place for Brockport just two places later at 27:08.0.
Next Up – The Golden Eagles are set to travel to SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, October 19th for the Mike Woods Invitational for a 10am start.
