Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagle women's volleyball team is back in action this weekend for more Empire 8 play. They will host Alfred University on Friday at 6pm and then travel to Houghton on Saturday for a 2pm start.
Staying Hot: Brockport defeated Utica, 3-1, and SUNY Poly, 3-0, last weekend in a pair of E8 contests at home. The squad remains hot, now on a 5-match win streak that includes three sweeps in conference play. At 13-6 overall and 6-1 in the E8, the Green and Gold have clinched a postseason spot with an opportunity to still claim the No. 1 seed.
Home Court Advantage: After winning two more home matches this past weekend against Utica and SUNY Poly, the Golden Eagles continue to protect their nest. When playing at home in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium, Brockport is 4-0 on the season after going 7-0 at home last year. Currently in his second year with the program, Head Coach

E8 Postseason Picture: With the regular season beginning to wind down, six teams have already clinched a spot in the 2024 Empire 8 Conference Tournament. Heading into the weekend slate, here is a look at the current E8 standings:

Meet The Saxons: At 13-6 overall and 5-2 in Empire 8 competition, the Alfred Saxons have clinched a spot in the conference tournament for this year. After a pair of losses, they got back on track with a 3-0 sweep over Russell Sage in the last outing. Brockport's meeting with Alfred and Houghton this weekend will drastically impact the E8 standings as the postseason approaches.
Looking at Houghton: The Houghton Highlanders enter this weekend at 9-11 overall and 6-1 in the E8, already clinching a postseason spot. They have lost their last two matches however, falling to Hartwick and Lycoming. Prior to the pair of defeats, Houghton had won six straight. The Highlanders face Geneseo on the road Friday night ahead of their home matchup with Brockport on Saturday afternoon.
