Brockport, NY - The #2-seeded Brockport field hockey team will host #3-seeded Hartwick in the Empire 8 Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday, November 6
th at 4 p.m.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles were shut out on Graduate Senior Night, falling to St. John Fisher, 1-0, on Thursday, October 31
st. Brockport finished the regular season with a 13-5 record, posting a 7-2 mark in Empire 8 play.
Paige Thowe led the Golden Eagles with five shots on goal in a strong effort.
Ella Buchanan (L, 11-4) was strong throughout in defeat, making seven saves for the Green and Gold.
Emmalee Moore came up big on defense in the third, making two defensive saves in the quarter in an excellent effort.
Mary Young added a defensive save in a strong game.
Regular Season Recap: With 13 wins on the season, the Golden Eagles posted its most successful season since 1994 (14 wins) and is tied for the 3
rd most wins in program history. Brockport's 24 wins in the last two seasons mark the most in back-to-back seasons since 1980-81 (26). The Golden Eagles thrived on the road, going a perfect 7-0 across away and neutral contests. The 2024 squad is the first on record to post a perfect road record in a single season.Â

Defensive Superstars: In 18 games, the Golden Eagles defense has allowed just 27 goals (1.5 per game), thanks in part to elite play from
Ella Buchanan and
Mary Young.

Starting nearly every contest since 2022,
Mary Young ranks among the best defenders in the country. Her eight defensive saves are good for 2
nd best in the E8. Young's 19 career defensive saves lands her tied for the 14
th most among active players across all divisions of NCAA Field Hockey (D1, D2, D3).

Ella Buchanan has put together an excellent season for Brockport, leading the E8 in save percentage (.821) and ranking 2
nd in goals against average (1.44). Buchanan's 0.813 career save percentage is 12
th best among active players across all divisions of NCAA Field Hockey.

Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks finished the 2024 regular season with a 7-2 Empire 8 record, good for the 3
rd seed in the E8 tournament. Hartwick advanced to the semifinals following a 4-1 win over #6-seeded Houghton on Monday. Back on October 12
th, Brockport downed Hartwick 1-0 at home, earning a tiebreak for the #2 seed.
