Brockport, NY – The men's and women's indoor track teams traveled to Houghton University for the Houghton December Classic to open the 2024-25 season.
In the men's 5k, Miguel Benito finished up at 5
th place with a time of 15:49.55.
Ethne Degan took 1
st place at a mark of 5:21.64 and
Emily Leo came in shortly after at 5:28.09 for a 3
rd place finish.
Thomas Canestrari also had a 1
st place finish in the mile at a time of 4:32.51.
In the finals of the men's 60m hurdles, Ethan Suchit took 2
nd place with an 8.82-second finish.
Brockport had a 3
rd, 4
th, and 5
th, place finish in the finals of the women's 60m hurdles with Lexi Rodriguez (3
rd) coming across the line at 9.71 seconds,
Monica Cammarota (4
th) at 10.14, and
Lily Rexford (5
th) at 10.16 seconds.
Camryn Jacob took a 6
th place finish in the women's 600m race at a time of 1:50.84.
Owen Arbocus, Nick Markle, and Brian Cappellini took 1
st, 2
nd, and 3
rd in the men's 600 with Arbocus crossing first at 1:23.04, Markle second at 1:24.40, and Cappellini shortly after at 1:25.46.
Aaron Ottenwalder had a strong 1
st place finish in the men's 60m with a 6.94-second mark.
In the women's 800,
Ariana Proper crossed the line at 2:39.62 taking 9
th place.
In the men's 800, Christian Zabala finished 14
th overall with a time of 2:09.42.
In the women's 300, the Golden Eagles yet again took 1
st, 2
nd, and 3
rd, with
Marissa Wise in 1st at 41.21 seconds, Lexi Rodriguez 2
nd with a time of 43.36, and
Monica Cammarota in 3
rd at 44.98.
Ayden Grinion took 1
st in the men's 300m at 36.32 and just .2 second later Michael Durski crossed the line at 36.45 seconds.
Chelsea Reynolds snagged a 5
th place finish in the women's 200m with a 28.49-second mark.
At a time of 11:38.33,
Jennifer Reagan crossed the line in 6
th place in the women's 3k.
In the men's 3k, Sean Killip clinched 2
nd place making his mark at 8:45.24.
The men's 4x400 team of Michael Durski, Cole Ferris, Nathan Roehrig, and Ayden Grinion had a day coming in 1
st place at a time of 3:30.92.
Bayleigh Woodard,
Elaina Neubert,
Rachel Daskiewich, and
Karina Rozhevenko made up the women's 4x200 team and came in 4
th place at a time of 2:00.13.
The men's 4x200 team of Bryce Roberts, Mekhi Dozier, Judson Delany, and Aaron Ottenwalder also had a strong race coming in 1
st place at 1:34.50.
Daniel Reinhart took 2
nd in the men's pole vault reaching the 4.5m mark and Nathan Crane took 3
rd at the 4.4m mark.
In the women's pole vault,
Isabel Swyers took 1
st place at a high mark of 3.35m and Becca Bready clinched 2
nd place reaching the 3.2m height.
The men's high jump had a strong day again taking the top three spots. Cardin Chau came in 1
st with a 1.85m jump, Jack Valentine took 2
nd also reaching the 1.85m mark, and Jack Galley brought in 3
rd place at 1.80m.
Howard Nix took 2
nd place in the men's long jump, jumping 6.76m.
Sasha Schramm had a long jump of 5.19m taking her to a 3
rd place finish. Schramm also had a 10.50m jump in the women's triple jump helping her to a 2
nd place finish.
In the men's triple jump, Dennis Bobbitt had a strong 1
st place finish making a distance of 13.86m.
Mitchell Ellsworth took 2
nd in the men's shotput with a 13.29m throw.
In the women's shot put,
Trinity Dees had a throw of 11.24m which brought her to a 2
nd place finish.
Jacob DeWilde clinched top three with a 3
rd place finish with a throw of 13.32m.
Katrina also had a strong throw making top three and finishing in 2
nd at 14.45m.
