Brockport, NY – The Wrestling team traveled to Rochester to compete in the RIT Invitational on Saturday, December 7
th where they placed 11
th with a total of 56.5 points.
Liam Bullock had a day in the 125 lb division bringing in 19.5 points for Brockport and placing 3rd. Bullock won by fall twice and by major decision to make it to the semifinals. Bullcok fell to Brett Stanley of John Carol but moved on to cons. Semi's and the 3
rd place match where he won by a major decision of 21-12 over Alexander Schaeublin (Trinity(CT)).
Alex Smith fought hard in the 149lb division bringing in 7.5 points for the Green and Gold. Smith won by tech fall (20-4) in the champ round 1 but Dara Heydarpour (RIT) took the win in round 2. Smith won by fall, decision, and tech fall in cons. rounds 2-4 but fell to Heydarpour again in the last round.
Max Morrison (157) earned 7.5 points after fighting it out and making it to cons. round 7. Morrison won by tech fall, medical forfeit, and decision in rounds 2-6. Max Watson (RIT) won by no contest in cons. round 7.
Kiam Coleman contributed 6 points for the team at 174 after making it to the quarterfinals. Coleman won by tech fall and by decision in champ. round 1 and 2 and fell to Aiden Ashburn (John Carroll) in the quarterfinals. In cons. round 4 Coleman won by fall but in round 5, Tyler Balent of RIT won by a close major decision.
Simon Lingle contributed 5.5 points to the team total sitting at 197 after making it to the quarterfinal round. Lingle won by major decision in the champ. round 2 but fell to Jesse Kanatzar (John Carroll) in the quarterfinals. In cons. round 4, Lingle won by fall just 53 second into the match but fell to Nolan Fenton of Penn State Behrend in round 5.
Snagging 5 points for the team was
William Lotocky in the 165lb division making it to cons. round 4. Lotocky won by tech fall and by fall in rounds 2 and 3 and fell to David Hammerle of Oswego in round 4.
Marquis Larmond gained 5 points for Brockport in the 165 division after making it to the quarterfinals. In the champ round 2, Larmond won by tech fall and in round 3 by a 4-1 decision. In the quarterfinals, Daniel Devera (John Carroll) won by major decision. Larmond brought in a 9-1 sudden victory win in the cons. round 6 to finish out the day.
Spencer Maja (149) earned a total of 4.5 points making it to the champ. round 2 and the cons. round 3 by tech fall. Anthony Avitabile of Oswego won by major decision in the cons. round 3.
Austin Boff put up 4.5 points in his matchups in the 157 division. Boff made it to the champ. round 3 and fought hard but fell in the last round. In cons. round 4 Boff won by fall just 0:57 into the match but
Max Morrison (Brockport) won by decision in the 5
th round.
Dylan Levine (125) brought in 3 points for the Golden Eagles with an unknown place. Levine made it to cons. round 3 where he received a bye and won by medical forfeit but fell in the third round to Robert Lyons of Norwich.
Earning 2.5 points on the day was
Jonathan Guyette in the 133 division. Guyette won by fall at 2:23 in the match in the cons. first round and fell to Ryan Devins of Oswego in round 2.
Gus Harmon also scored 2.5 points for the team in the 133lb division winning by fall just 1:06 into the match in the first round. Derek Bernardino (St. John Fisher) won by fall in the cons. round 2.
Travis Robinson-Becker scored 2 points for Brockport at 184 after bringing in a win by major decision in the champ. round 1. Robinson-Becker fell to Nicholas Crotty (Trinity(CT)) 2:49 into the match in round 2.
Brandon Drummond (157) had 1 point on the day after a decided win of 13-6 in the cons. round 3 but fell to
Austin Boff of Brockport in the next round.
Nicholas Baco earned 1 point after a 6-0 decided win in cons. round 2 in the 285lb division. Jade Edwards (Wesleyan (CT)) won by fall over Baco in cons. round 3.
At 174,
Haydin Perez earned 0.5 points after taking a win by major decision in cons. round 2 but fell to Niko Kalamaras of John Carroll in round 3.
