Gymnastics Returns Home to Host Tri-Meet on Sunday

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport gymnastics team will be at home on Sunday, February 25th for the Brockport Tri-Meet. The competition begins at 2pm, as the squad hosts both Springfield College and Ursinus College.
 
Last Meet: The SUNY Brockport gymnastics teams picked up another win on Sunday, defeating Ithaca 192.050-187.550 at the Hariett Marranca Memorial Invite. With the victory last weekend, the Golden Eagles have a full record of 13-1 on the season with just a few weeks left before the postseason begins.
 
New School Records: Out in Ithaca, Both Rachel Swick and Lienna Kay added their names to the history books. Swick's 9.875 on the bars sets a new program record for the event. Kay set a new standard on the balance beam, scoring the need record at 9.875.
 
Highlight Performers: The Golden Eagles had two of the top three scores for all four events on the day. On the vault, it was Maren Eramo's 9.750 that won the event. Emma Grace Sargent had the second-best score in the event with her 9.675. As a team, Brockport scored a total of 48.025 on the vault.
 
Rachel Swick provided the highlight on the uneven bars, posting a school-record score of 9.875. The previous mark belonged to Sargent at 9.850, set earlier this season. Swick took first on the bars, while Taylor Bushey (9.700) and Lienna Kay (9.600) placed second and third. The three led the Green and Gold to a 47.600 for the event.
 
The Golden Eagles had one of the best balance beam performances in program history, scoring a 48.325. Lienna Kay paced them with a school-record showing for a 9.875, tying for first in the event. Natalie Galioto owned the previous record at 9.825 last year. Maya Mercoraro hit 9.700 for the third-best beam score of the meet.
 
On the floor the team combined for a 48.100 in the event to help pull further away from the Bombers. Laken Sooy and Kirsten Paultre both earned scores of 9.725 on the floor for the second-best score in the event.
 
Empire State Champions: On February 11th,  the SUNY Brockport gymnastics team took home the first place trophy at the first-ever Empire State Collegiate Championship, hosted by Cornell University. The Golden Eagles scored a season-high of 193.025 to beat out Cornell, LIU, Ithaca, Cortland, and Utica at the meet.
 
Starting off on the floor, Brockport put together a fantastic showing in the event for a team score of 48.875. Kiara Hockman and Kirsten Paultre were two of six gymnasts to tie for fifth place on the floor. They both scored a 9.800 to lead the Green and Gold effort in the event.
 
Up next the Golden Eagles took to the vault, where they scored a 48.125 on the day. Hitting a 9.800, Maren Eramo finished third among all competitors for the event. Second on the team for Brockport was Emma Grace Sargent's vault score of 9.675, which was good for 10th place in the event.
 
Moving to the uneven parallel bars, the squad combined for a score of 47.450. Rachel Swick tied for third in the event with her routine, posting a score of 9.725. Emma Grace Sargent placed eighth on the bars with a 9.600, while Maren Eramo's 9.575 was tied for ninth.
 
Finishing the day on the balance beam, Brockport had one of its best showings of the year in the event with a 48.575. both Natalie Galioto and Maya Pecraro posted a 9.775 to tie for ninth on the beam. Kiara Hockman was close behind with her score of 9.750.
 
Coming Up Next: After this weekend's tri-meet on Sunday, the Golden Eagles will begin preparations for their final regular season meet next week. Brockport will host Utica for Senior Night on Friday, March 1st at 6pm.
