Ithaca, NY – The Brockport Golden Eagle gymnastics team won its fourth consecutive NCGA East Regional Championship on Saturday. Hosted by Ithaca College, Brockport took first place with a score of 192.100 to claim the regional crown once again.
With four straight regional championships, the Golden Eagles have now how six in the last seven seasons. Since 2010 they have now won nine regional titles, totaling 11 overall in program history. Head Coach Dr. René Lyst has now led the program to three consecutive regional titles in her first three seasons at Brockport.
With an individual score of 9.875 on the uneven Bars,
Rachel Swick earned the regional title for the event and tied her own school record. Brockport's team score of 49.00 on the uneven bars set a new school-record.
Teammate
Emma Grace Sargent took 4
th in the uneven bars with a 9.800. Grace Sargent also took 4th on the vault (9.750).
Maren Eramo took 2
nd on the vault with her 9.800 score, also finishing 7
th on uneven bars with a 9.775 score. Eramo will enter nationals as the top ranked vaulter in Division III.
Lienna Kay earned a 2
nd-place finish on uneven bars with her 9.825 score, also adding an 8
th-place finish on the vault, posting a score of 9.700.
Taylor Bushley finished 9
th on uneven bars with a score of 9.725.
Kirsten Paultre finished as the top Golden Eagle on the floor, taking 2
nd with her 9.850 score.
The Golden Eagles dominated the competition, leading all schools in vault score (48.375), bars score (49.000), and floor (48.90).
At 192.100 the Golden Eagles defeated Springfield (189.775), Ithaca (190.950), Rhode Island (191.575), Cortland (191.650), Utica (186.175), and Ursinus (190.275). They earn one of the three-team bids for nationals and will compete at the NCGA National Championships on March 23rd hosted by Ursinus.
