On Tuesday, April 17^th the SUNY Brockport Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) visited Helen Barret Montgomery School No. 50 for the annual READ Program.
 
A large collection of Golden Eagle student-athletes and their mascot Ellsworth spent the morning at the school. They all took part in several physical education activities, reading to the kids, sharing goodie bags, and providing donated books.

Librarians Jennifer Kegler and Mary Jo Orzech, 31 student athletes from 18 teams, as well as Assistant Athletic Director and SAAC Advisor Steve Pike attended. The Friends of Drake Library donated sling bags for each student with a signed book, pencils, pens, small notepad, composition notebook, toothpaste, toothbrush, and box of 24 crayons. 



Brockport student-athletes spent over an hour with the elementary school students in the classroom and 40 minutes outside where they participated in jump rope, hula hoop and parachute games.
The READ Program is a great way for the SUNY Brockport student-athletes to remain connected with the youth of the community in a fun learning environment.
