SUNY Brockport has announced its newest members selected for induction into the Brockport Athletics Hall of Fame.  The Golden Eagles will celebrate six individuals and two team inductions during Homecoming & Family Weekend at the Alumni Awards & Hall of Fame Dinner and Ceremony on Friday evening, September 20^th on campus in the Special Events & Recreation Center (SERC).
 
The 2024 induction class includes former Brockport Athletic Director Lin Case, former Associate Athletic Director Susan Hoffman, Jennifer Monfiletto '97 (Women's Soccer), Stephanie Schuler '15 (Gymnastics), Cuyler Groth '08 (Football), Brandon Williams '08 (Men's Basketball), the 2004 Baseball Team and the 1968 Men's Soccer Team.

1968 Brockport Men's Soccer Team
The 1968 men's soccer team was led by Head Coach A. Huntley Parker, Jr. and posted a perfect regular season record of 11-0. The Golden Eagles earned the No. 1 ranking in New York State and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament to go along with a first-round bye. Over the course of the season, the Golden Eagles outscored opponents 21-1 in SUNYAC Conference games. Five student-athletes earned All-Conference honors including Bob Ketchum, Roy Miller, Mike Greco, Ron Wheeler and TJ Williams. Williams also earned All New York State and First Team All-American honors. All-American was not divided into Divisions back then, meaning he was one of the top 11 men's soccer players at all levels of college soccer.  The NCAA Tournament bid was particularly noteworthy because men's soccer was not divided into divisions, as it is today. As a team, the Golden Eagles set or tied six SUNYAC Conference records.
 
2004 Brockport Baseball Team
The 2004 Brockport baseball team put together arguably the greatest season in Golden Eagle baseball program-history, finishing with a 34-15 overall record, a SUNYAC Championship title, an NCAA Division III Regional title, and an appearance in the NCAA Division III World Series for the first time in program-history.   Brockport won the SUNYAC Tournament, rallying with two straight wins against Cortland in the championship series to win the 2004 conference title and NCAA qualifier. Brockport won the NCAA Regional with a win over Cortland and two straight wins over Ithaca to advance to the Division III World Series in Wisconsin. The Golden Eagles won one game in the College World Series before being eliminated. Hall of Famer Matt Johnson was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year in 2004 and the team featured three SUNYAC All-Conference First Team selections – John Morgan (2B), Matt Johnson (OF), Ben Kimball (P) and three SUNYAC All-Conference second team selections – Joe Lux (C), Jeff Wilson (P), Andy Petersen (DH).
 
Lin Case (Retired Athletic Director)
Lin Case helped to guide SUNY Brockport's 23-sport intercollegiate athletic program to national prominence as its director of athletics from 1995-2010.  When hired, Case became only the second female athletic director in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and the only one in New York State to oversee an NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic program offering both football and ice hockey. Case was the SUNYAC president in 2003-04 and served a three-year term on the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Board of Directors. She served on a variety of NCAA Division III committees, including the Financial Aid Task Force, the Financial Aid and Rewards Committee, the Football East Region Selection Committee, and the Infractions Committee. Named the athletic director in 1995, she oversaw 23 varsity and two junior varsity intercollegiate athletic teams, 53 full- and part-time coaches, eight athletic administrators, three athletic trainers, three support staff and 65 student employees. She was responsible for management of the $2.3 million athletic budget.  The recipient of an Outstanding Young Woman of America Award in 1988, Case was named the Josten's ECAC Administrator of the Year in 2003. A member of the Beta Pi Chapter of Phi Epsilon Kappa, the national physical education honor society, Case was inducted into the Canandaigua Academy Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. Lin was inducted into the Cortland Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005 and remains an active member of the Cortland Hall of Fame "C-Club" to this day. 
 
Susan Hoffman (Retired Associate Athletic Director)
Associate Director of Athletics Susan Hoffman retired on August 27, 2021 following over 34 years of service to Brockport. She was honored by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) with the Patrick R. Damore Distinguished Service Award and Retiree Award following her retirement. She was a jack of all trades among the Brockport athletic administration over the years and held countless responsibilities including NCAA compliance and eligibility, scheduling coordination, work study supervision, home event manager, official's liaison, travel and lodging coordinator and athletic weight room liaison. She also held the titles of Senior Women's Administrator, NCAA Compliance and Eligibility coordinator, as well as Academic Support coordinator and Student Athlete Advisory Committee advisor. She was the Title IX coordinator for Intercollegiate Athletics, and she even served as the assistant softball coach for a season. Some of her most recognizable accomplishments include serving as the Event Director for numerous NCAA championships, including football, women's lacrosse, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. She also served as the Director for the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship and the NCAA Regional Wrestling championship.
 
Jennifer Monfiletto '97 (Women's Soccer)
Jennifer Monfiletto led Brockport to a 16-4-2 overall record in 1995, winning the NYSWCAA Title, defeating Ithaca in the first round and defeating Cortland in penalty kicks in the championship game. 16 wins ranks second all-time for single season wins at Brockport.  She helped guide Brockport to 33 wins in three seasons. She was a Two-time All-Region selection (1995 & 1996) and a two-time New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association All-State selection (1995 & 1996). She was also a two-time SUNYAC All-Conference First Team Selection (1995 & 1996). Monfiletto was a dominant midfielder who finished her three-year career ranked in the top 25 all-time at Brockport in scoring with 15 goals and 10 assists for 40 total points. She managed the middle of the pitch and helped the defense set the school-record with 13 shutouts in a single season. The 1995 team narrowly missed out on a bid to the NCAA's and earned hosting rights to the ECAC Championships as the #1 seed where they advanced to the finals. Following graduation, she became an assistant coach at Brockport for three seasons and she is currently a social studies teacher at Hilton High School.
 
Stephanie Schuler Ryan '15 (Gymnastics)
Stephanie was a six-time All-American for the Brockport gymnastics program. She was the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association 2013 Balance Beam National Champion. In 2014, she placed second on the balance beam and second on the uneven bars at nationals. In 2015, she placed third on the uneven bars, seventh on the vault and ninth on the balance beam at nationals. Her ECAC regional awards are bountiful, and they include a first place finish on the vault and a second place finish on the uneven bars in 2014. At regionals in 2015, she placed first on the uneven bars, sixth on the vault and sixth on the balance beam. During her time as a Golden Eagles she broke the school record on the uneven bars (9.8) and she was also the first NCGA Division III gymnast to perform a layout full twisting Yurchenko on vault.
 
Cuyler Groth '08 (Football)
Cuyler Groth was a 2007 American Football Coaches Association First Team All-American offensive lineman for the Brockport football program. He was also named a preseason All-American in 2008. In 2007, he helped the Golden Eagles rushing attack which compile the third-most yards in a single season in school history and in 2008, Groth helped lead the way on an offensive line that produced back-to-back 1,000-yard rushers.  This marked the first time in program-history that Golden Eagles boasted 1,000-yard rushers in consecutive seasons. For his efforts on the field, he was also named a 2008 D3football.com All-East Region selection and a NJAC All-Conference First Team selection. In 2008 the Golden Eagles finished the season with a 7-4 overall record and won the ECAC Northwest Championship game by the score of 7068 over Hartwick.
 
Brandon Williams '08 (Men's Basketball)
Brandon Williams '08 left Brockport as one of the top all-around players in program-history. He finished in the top 10 in career scoring and in the top five in five additional categories with 800 career rebounds (3rd all-time), 207 steals (2nd) 57 blocks (5th), 437 free throw attempts (4th), and 109 games played (tied for 4th). He currently ranks 13^th all-time at Brockport with 1,3000 career points.  He was a three-time SUNYAC All-Conference selection, including a two-time first team pick in 2007 and 2008. He was also a D3hoops.com All-East Region First Team pick in 2008 and Second Team selection in 2007. In 2004 he helped guide the Golden Eagles to a 22-8 record, an appearance in the SUNYAC Championship game and an at-large bid into the NCAA Division Tournament where the Golden Eagles advanced to the second round. In 2007 he guided Brockport to a 26-6 overall record, a SUNYAC Championship game appearance, and an at-large bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament where they advanced as far as the Elite 8. Over the course of his four-year career he helped lead Brockport to 87 wins and just 31 losses, including two SUNYAC Conference Championship game appearances, two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances and an ECAC Upstate Championship.

About the Brockport Athletics Hall of Fame
Purpose:
Begun in 1985, the Golden Eagle Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize athletes, coaches and/or administrators who have made outstanding contributions to the intercollegiate athletics program at Brockport. In 2009, a "contributors" category was added to honor individuals who have made a significant impact on the College's athletics program and/or the honoree's professional field after attending or working at Brockport.
 
Eligibility:

• Athletes who:
  • Graduated five or more years ago from the College
  • Attended Brockport and participated in athletics for at least two years
  • Demonstrated superior athletic performance and contributed to the success of the athletics program while at the college
  • Are worthy citizens and a positive role model
• "Veteran" Athletes only, who:
  • Graduated at least 30 years before the current school year
  • Can be judged on a combination of superior athletic performance, existing statistics, testimonials from coaches, players or opponents
  • Are worthy citizens and a positive role model
    • *Note: This category will be voted on separately, but honorees will be listed with "regular" inductees
• Coaches who:
  • Demonstrated superior competence and professionalism in making contributions to the intercollegiate athletics program while at the college
  • Strong consideration will be given to the following: won/lost record; length of service; strength of won/lost record; graduation rate of his/her athletes; post-season playoff appearances; conference/regional/national sport committee service; championships won; number of sports coached; and coach of the year awards
  • Are worthy citizens and a positive role model
  • Are not presently, and have not been in the past five years, on the athletic staff at the college
    • A coach with at least 20 years of coaching experience at Brockport is automatically eligible, upon nomination as soon as he/she discontinues coaching in his/her primary sport.
• Administrators/Support personnel who:
  • Demonstrated superior competence and professionalism in making contributions to the intercollegiate athletics program while at the college
  • Must have performed an outstanding and/or special service to the athletics program
  • Must have been employed at least 15 years at The College at Brockport
  • Are worthy citizens and a positive role model
  • Are not presently, and have not been in the past five years, on the athletic staff at the college;
    • however, after 20 years of service at Brockport, individuals can become eligible, upon nomination as soon as they discontinue service to the College.
• Contributors who:
  • Are worthy citizens and a positive role model
  • Have significantly impacted the college's athletics program through on-going support: and/or
  • Have attained a high-ranking role within their professional field that is recognized on a nation level: and/or
  • Made a substantial impact on the world of athletics and sports in general
    • *Note: this category will be voted on separately, but honorees will be listed with "regular" inductees

Nominations:
Nominations will be accepted by The College at Brockport Athletic Department on an on-going basis. To be considered for the current year, a nomination must be submitted by no later than January 31 of the same year. Nominations will only be accepted through the online nomination portal. To be complete, a nomination should include a current resume of the nominee's achievements in athletics, their profession, and civic activities, and other supporting materials. Candidates nominated for induction remain eligible for five years. If a nominee is not selected within a period of five years, he/she is automatically removed from the list of active nominees and must be nominated again to be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.
