Brockport, NY- The Brockport field hockey team will host a pair of home games this weekend. It all begins with a matchup against RPI on Saturday at 1pm before taking on Morrisville for Senior Day on Sunday at 1pm.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles came up short in home opener action against Rochester, 3-0, on Thursday, September 5
th. Brockport fell to 2-1 on the season following the loss.
Goalie
Ella Buchanan (2-1) was strong in defeat, making eight saves on the day.
Emmalee Moore (2 SOG) and
Allison Greene (1 SOG) led Brockport in shots with two each.
Early Leaders: Through three games,
Kelsey Zehr has led the Golden Eagles in numerous statistical categories. Zehr leads all field players with over 190 minutes played, in addition to leading Brockport in goals (3), points (6), and game-winning goals (2). Freshman
Allison Greene leads the team with two assists, adding a goal for four points on the season.
Between the Pipes: Goalie
Ella Buchanan has started all three games to begin the season, posting strong numbers. Buchanan holds a 2-1 record, making 21 saves to begin the season with a 1.25 goals against average. The week prior she was named the NFHCA National Defensive Player of the Week and Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week.
Scouting RPI: The Engineers sit at 1-2 to begin the season, recently falling on the road against Hamilton College last Tuesday, 1-0. The two teams have split the last two meetings, with Brockport picking up a 2-1 win at RPI last year.
Scouting Morrisville: The Mustangs hold a 1-3 record to begin the season, most recently falling to Houghton, 5-1, on Tuesday. Morrisville is coming off a disappointing 2-15 finish to the 2023 season that saw the Golden Eagles score a 9-0 win on the road. Brockport has won the last 11 matchups against Morrisville, winning the last three head-to-head matchups by a combined 25-0.
Up Next: Following Senior Day on Sunday, the Golden Eagles will look forward to another home game on Wednesday, September 18th. They will host Ithaca College for a 7pm game under the lights in non-conference action.
