Box Score Brockport, NY- The Brockport field hockey team came up short at home against RPI, 4-2, on Saturday, September 14
th. The Golden Eagles fell to 2-2 on the season following the loss.
The Engineers jumped in front early in the first, with Ria Patel netting the opening goal to put RPI up 1-0 early. The Golden Eagles would find the equalizer in the 2
nd period, with
Kelsey Zehr and
Allison Greene chipping in for assists on
Gianna Salerno's first goal of the season.
Tied 1-1 at halftime, Brockport held the shots on goal advantage in the first half, outshooting RPI 10-3.
The two teams would trade goals in the 3
rd period, beginning with Katie Galgay of RPI at the 38:26 mark of the contest.
The Golden Eagles responded quickly, with
Sophia Jones finding
Allison Greene for a breakaway goal to tie up the contest at 2-2.
The Engineers would run away in the 4
th period, scoring the game's final two goals. Scores came from Khushi Saini and Sophia Brown.
RPI would dominate the shots battle in the 2
nd half, outshooting Brockport 11-5 to end the game.
Ella Buchanan played the full 60 minutes for Brockport, making nine saves on the day.
Allison Greene continued her excellent freshman season, finishing with a goal, one assist, and five shots on goal to lead Brockport.
Kelsey Zehr chipped in with an assist and four shots on goal.
Sophia Jones,
Tiffany Andres,
Gianna Salerno (1G), and
Samantha Choate all registered a shot on goal for Brockport.
