Brockport Volleyball at Oswego Invitational this Weekend

Brockport, NY – This weekend the SUNY Brockport volleyball team is headed out on the road to play at the Oswego State Invitational. The Golden Eagles open the weekend on Friday at 5pm against Morrisville. They are also slated to face Canton (2pm) and Penn State Behrend (4pm) on Saturday.
 
U of R Invitational: Brockport battled hard last week at the U of R Invitational, however the squad ended up 0-3 on the weekend. Brockport moved to 4-5 overall on the season following the trip to Rochester. The team lost matches against Amherst College (3-1), University of Rochester (3-1), and Buffalo State (0-3). Following the conclusion of play, Elsie Logan was named to the All-Tournament Team.
 
Team Stats: Through the first nine matches, the Green and Gold have totaled 400 kills with a .113 hitting percentage offensively. The setters have registered 368 assists (10.5 per set) and just two ball handling errors. Brockport is averaging 15.7 digs per set and 1.5 blocks per set on the defensive side of the action.
 
Attacking Leaders: Alexis Sison and Alenna Williamson are the only two Golden Eagles with more than 200 total attempts. Sison has been the number one option offensively with 305 attempts, on the way to a team-high 101 kills and 3.37 kills per set. Williamson has 82 kills on 209 attempts, averaging 2.41 per set with a .191 hitting percentage.
 
Setting the Table: Kaitlyn Jewett has resumed her starting role at setter for Brockport in her sophomore season. With 213 assists so far, she leads Brockport's set up for the offense with an average of 6.09 assists per set. Lauryn Forand has registered 97 assists during her rotation on the court, averaging 4.04 assists per set.
 
Logan Keeps Digging: In the libero role, Elsie Logan has been leading the team in digs from day one. She has 158 digs through the first nine matches, averaging 4.51 digs per set across 35 sets played.
 
Defending the Net: Freshman Lauren Emke currently leads Brockport with 24 total blocks (22 assisted) and is averaging 0.69 blocks per set. Maddy Howell and Alenna Williamson are also some of the leaders in the middle blocker role. Howell has 21 total blocks (0.91 per set) and Williamson has gotten up for 19 so far.
 
Weekend's Competition: The Morrisville Mustangs enter the weekend 5-4 overall after going 2-1 last weekend. They picked up wins against Keuka College (3-2) and St. Lawrence (3-0). At 5-3 overall, the SUNY Canton Roos have won three in a row going into the weekend. Canton spends Friday at the St. Lawrence Triad to play a pair, before heading to Oswego for Saturday's slate. Penn State Behrend opens the weekend against Utica, as the Lions enter the weekend 2-10 overall on the season.
 
Finally at Home: After another weekend away, the Golden Eagles will get to prepare for their first home match of the season. They will host St. John Fisher for the Empire 8 opener on Friday, October 4th at 6pm.
