Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is on the road this weekend for back-to-back Empire 8 matchups. Brockport will face Elmira at 7:30pm on Friday night and Keuka at 4pm on Saturday.
Last Time Out: Brockport defeated the SUNY Poly Wildcats in an 81-80 thriller on Tuesday evening. The Golden Eagles improved to 5-7 with a 3-1 record in Empire 8 conference play thus far.
Tony Arnold led Brockport in scoring with 14 while making a career-high 10 free throws on the night.
Jakhi Lucas finished with 12 points while
Nathaniel Gordon and
Zachary Rice netted 10 a piece.
Alex Tavarez added nine points as well.
1,000-Point Club: Mekhi Beckett reached a huge career milestone in the contest, scoring his 1000th career point. Beckett became the 25th player in program history to do so. He finished with 12 points on the night. Beckett has been on a tear since E8 play began, averaging 17.3 points per game across four conference contests.
Scary Shooting Splits: Nathaniel Gordon has been blistering hot shooting the ball since 2025 began. Through five games in the new year, Gordon is shooting 54.5% FG, 58.8% 3PT, and 100% FT. Last week against Russell Sage he scorched the Gators for a career-high 21 points (7-11 FG, 4-5 3PT, 3-3 FT). Gordon is averaging 11.6 points per game during this stretch.
This Weekend's Slate: The Elmira Soaring Eagles are looking to get back in the win column for Friday night's matchup against Brockport. They are currently 4-9 overall, 0-4 in the Empire 8, and have lost six in a row. Saturday's contest will bring the Golden Eagles up against the Keuka College Wolves. The Wolves head into the weekend at 4-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play. They are coming off of a win over Hartwick on the road, 78-55, and have a Friday night clash with Geneseo ahead of Saturday's tip-off.
