Brockport, NY – On Saturday, the SUNY Brockport gymnastics team hosted First Responder's Day as part of the dual meet against SUNY Cortland. Brockport is now 2-0 in duals on the season, beating Cortland by a final score of 189.900-187.925.
 
Maren Eramo made some noise on the day as the event winner for both the vault and the uneven bars. She registered a score of 9.700 on the vault and a 9.675 on the bars to lead the squad.
 
The balance beam event winner was Samantha Meadows from Cortland (9.725). On the floor exercise, it was Kiara Hockman's score of 9.825 that took the top spot in the event for the day.
 
Freshman Emma Brookins went uncontested in the all-around competition, improving upon her score from last week's collegiate debut. After posting a 36.600 in last weekend's win at Ithaca, Emma earned a total score of 38.300 against Cortland. She tallied a 9.425 on the vault, a 9.500 on the bars, a 9.600 on the beam, and a 9.775 on the floor.
 
Rotation one put the Golden Eagles on the vault, where they earned a total of 47.775 points as a team. Led by Eramo's 9.700, all six gymnasts earned scores above a 9.4. Kiara Hockman scored a 9.675 and Shannon Gibbs hit a 9.525. Gracie Weaver (9.450), Emma Brookins (9.425), and Emma Langdon (9.4) all performed well on the vault.
 
The second event for Brockport was the bars, where the team had its lowest scoring total of the meet. Despite the lower score for the event, Brockport's 46.275 on the bars beat out Cortland's score of 45.875 on the bars. Following the first two rotations, Brockport held a lead of 94.050-93.200.
 
On the bars it was once again Maren Eramo leading the way with her 9.675. Brookins contributed the team's second-highest bars score of 9.500. Julia Klucinec and Jamarie Saravia both were given scores of 9.425 for their routines. Aladiana Tosado (8.250) and Charlotte Raymond (8.050) also competed in the event for the Golden Eagles.
 
Brockport stepped it up for the third rotation, looking to create more separation in the running score for the meet. With a 47.375 on the beam, the squad did just that by outscoring Cortland's 46.950 on the beam.
 
Lienna Kay got involved with a team-best 9.625 on the balance beam in The Vlog. Brookins and Hockman both received a 9.600 from the judges. Cali Czarcinski registered a 9.400, Maya Pecoraro earned a 9.150, and Amelia York rounded out the beam lineup with an 8.975.
 
Going into the fourth and final rotation, the running score had Brockport leading 141.425-140.975. The Golden Eagles closed out strong with their best event, the floor exercise. They earned 48.475 points on the floor compared to 47.775 from Cortland.
 
Hockman's routine dazzled the judges for a 9.825 to lead the Green and Gold effort on the floor. The freshmen duo of Emma Brookins and Jamarie Saravia both scored big with 9.775. Czarcinski nailed her routine for a 9.575 to go with Pecoraro's 9.525. Raymond earned a 9.375 to close out the scoring for Brockport.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action at home back downstairs in the Tuttle North Gymnastics Center next weekend. They will host Rhode Island College for another dual meet, starting at 2pm on Sunday, January 26^th.
