BROCKPORT, NY- The Brockport Field Hockey team was defeated at #21 SUNY Geneseo, 7-0, on Wednesday, October 22nd. The Golden Eagles fell to 7-8 overall and 4-4 in conference play following the loss.
The Knights took control from the start, with Sara O'Donnell netting the opening goal for Geneseo 5:03 into the first quarter. Geneseo would outshoot Brockport 11-0 in the opening frame, taking a 4-0 lead after 15 minutes.
The Knights would add another goal in the second, with
Lauren Mastromarco making three saves in the period to limit the damage. Mastromarco (L, 5-2) picked up the start for Brockport, making six saves across 30 minutes of action.
Geneseo would round out the scoring in the third, seeing Sam Lewis and Halle Senfield each score for the Knights. The Golden Eagles would threaten in the third, with
Sophia Jones and
Terralyn McLaughlin each firing shots on net.
Neither team would record a shot in the final 15 minutes, with Geneseo picking up its 12th straight win.
Katelynn Banning closed out the contest for Brockport, allowing two goals with two saves in the final 30 minutes.
Ava Sanchez and
Makenna Hart each recorded a shot for the Green and Gold.
