Brockport, NY – This weekend the Brockport women's volleyball team begins Empire 8 conference play with a pair of matches. First up, the Golden Eagles head to St. John Fisher for a 6pm battle on Friday. Then Brockport returns home on Saturday to take on Nazareth for a 2pm start.
Non-Conference Recap: The Golden Eagles earned a record of 7-6 overall following their non-conference schedule this season. After a 1-3 start on opening weekend, they won four of the next five matches to jump above .500. Most recently picking up back-to-back wins against Canton and Pitt-Bradford, Brockport now turns the page to a competitive E8 conference schedule. In 2024, the squad went 7-4 as a first-year member of the Empire 8.
Sison Snags Weekly Award: Last week,
Alexis Sison was named the E8 Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week.
Alexis was effective for Brockport in all three matches she played at the Oswego State Invitational. In a strong two-way effort, she totaled 39 kills and 42 digs across 12 sets. Sison also added three aces and three block assists to her final stat line for the weekend.
She started the busy slate with 11 kills and seven digs in a loss to Oswego. Then the next day she upped her performances to help Brockport take two wins. Sison registered 12 kills, 17 digs, two aces, and one block assist against Canton. Alexis finished the weekend out with a season-high 16 kills, 18 digs, one ace, and two block assists against Pitt-Bradford.
This Weekend's Competition: The St. John Fisher Cardinals have been on fire in 2025, entering Friday night with a 15-1 record. They are currently riding a 15-match win streak. Nazareth is on the other side of the spectrum right now, owning a record of 0-13 overall heading into the weekend. The Golden Flyers open conference play on Friday against Geneseo.
