BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Brockport Field Hockey team will head to Houghton on Tuesday, October 7th, at 7 pm, before traveling to Oneonta to take on Hartwick on Saturday, October 11th, at 11 am.
Last Outing: The Golden Eagles secured a 2-1 victory on Senior Day against Russell Sage on Saturday, October 4th. Brockport improved to 6-4 overall and 3-0 in Empire 8 play.
Before the start of the contest, Brockport Field Hockey recognized its lone senior, goalkeeper
Katelynn Banning. Banning would start between the pipes for Brockport, picking up the win in a strong two-save effort.
Elise Brady led all shooters with five shots on goal, with
Terralyn McLaughlin (2G) shooting a perfect three for three. Following her two-goal effort, McLaughlin leads Brockport with four goals, four assists, and 12 points on the season.
Cassidy Pado and
Allison Greene each picked up assists in the contest.
Taking Charge: Following back-to-back two-goal efforts,
Terralyn McLaughlin has taken charge of the Brockport offense. McLaughlin's two-goal effort against Russell Sage was enough to lead Brockport to the victory, recording her first game-winning goal in the contest. The Holland Patent, NY native has showcased pinpoint shooting accuracy, holding a 100% shot on goal percentage across her last four games (11 for 11).
Point Streak: Tied for the team lead in goals (4),
Cassidy Pado will enter this week's action on a three-game point streak. Pado has recorded six points (2G, 2A) in her last three outings, including a career high three-point outing (1G, 1A) in Brockport's 7-0 victory against Alfred. She will enter the week looking to extend a five-game shot on goal streak, shooting a perfect three for three in her last two contests.
Empire 8 Standings: The Golden Eagles currently hold second place in the Empire 8 with a 3-0 record, trailing only nationally ranked Geneseo (4-0) in the conference. Brockport will look to stay unbeaten in conference play against Houghton (2-3 E8) and fifth-place Hartwick (3-1), with Nazareth (3-1) and St. John Fisher (3-1) all trailing Brockport by 0.5 games in the standings.
Scouting Houghton: The Highlanders currently hold a 6-3 overall record and 7th place in the Empire 8 standings, currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak. Houghton most recently suffered a 3-2 overtime loss at home to St. John Fisher last Saturday. Last season saw the Golden Eagles secure a 3-2 double overtime win over the Highlanders, with Brockport winning three of the last four matchups since 2019.
Scouting Hartwick: The Hawks sit at 4-5 overall and are currently sitting in 5th place in the Empire 8 conference. Harwick is coming off back-to-back Empire 8 shutout wins against Elmira (6-0) and Nazareth (4-0), and has won four of its last five games. Hartwick and Brockport have split the last two head-to-head matchups, with Hartwick scoring a 2-0 win against Brockport in last year's Empire 8 Semifinals.
