Indoor Track and Field Finds Success at Nazareth

Brockport, NY – The men's and women's indoor track and field teams made their mark in Rochester after competing in the Nazareth Conference Tune-Up last night while getting ready for the Empire 8 Championships. 

Men's Team: 
Starting the day with a first-place finish in the finals of the men's 60m sprint was Derek Grimshaw at a quick 6.98 seconds also an AARTFC qualifying time. 

Jonathan Zavala also brought the heat in the 800m securing a second-place finish and a new school record of 1:53.77 while also making an AARTFC qualifying time. Thomas Canestrari finished just three places later in fifth at a mark of 1:58.33.

Cole Ferris and Michael Durski ran a quick 200m race taking third and fourth with times of 22.50 seconds (Ferris), which is also an AARTFC qualifier, and 22.52 (Durski). 

In the men's high jump, Jake Galley had a jump of 1.77m for a fifth-place finish while Jack Galley also had a 1.77m jump for sixth place. 

Adam Curtis had a day in the long jump placing first from a 6.72m leap while Gabe Giannini took a close second place from a 6.69m jump. 

Finishing out the day in the men's pole vault was Daniel Reinhart clearing the pole at 4.46m and clinching third place. Gabe Giannini also had a 4.46m jump good for a fourth-place mark on the board. 
 
Women's Team: 
Starting the day in the women's 5000m race, Jennifer Reagan had a hard-earned second-place finish crossing the line at 19:37.44.

Emily Leo achieved fourth place in the 800m finishing at just 2:24.13. 

Julianne Wilson fought for a second-place victory in the women's 1000m putting a time on the board of 3:06.32. 

In the women's 200m sprint, Alexis Rodriguez pushed for an AARTFC qualifying time of 26.26 seconds good for second place. 

Finishing in eighth place in the women's 3000m was Leah Lloyd at a time of 11:03.11. 

Taking sixth on the day in the pole vault was Isabel Swyers, sailing over the pole at 3.16m. 

Finishing in fourth and fifth in the women's weight throw with throws of 15.17m and 14.99m were Katrina Chandler (4th) and Lainey Porter (5th). 

The women had a day in the high jump with Sasha Schramm clinching third with a 1.53m leap, Michaela Levesque taking fifth at 1.48m and Justice Crane just one place later in sixth with a 1.43m jump. 

Up Next – The Golden Eagles are set to head to Utica University for the Empire 8 Championships on Friday, February 28th starting at 3 pm and Saturday, March 1st starting at 10 am.
