Brockport, NY – The No.1 seeded SUNY Brockport men's basketball team will host No. 8 Geneseo on Saturday for a 4pm tip-off to the Empire 8 Tournament Quarterfinals.

Last Time Out: Earlier this week, Brockport concluded the regular season with an 87-73 win over Geneseo. A close game most of the way, the Golden Eagles pulled away late in the second half for the home victory. They ended the season 16-9 overall and 14-2 in E8 play, clinching the Empire 8 Regular Season Title and the No. 1 seed.
Long Range Snipers: Mekhi Beckett and
Zachary Rice both finished the regular season Top 10 in the Empire 8 in 3-pointers made and Top 5 in 3-point shooting percentage. Beckett is the team's top scorer at 12.9 points per game, hitting from deep at 41.7% with 58 makes. Rice has 56 makes from beyond the arc this year, shooting 38.6% from three on his way to 11.0 points per game.
Tony Doing it All: Tony Arnold has stuffed the stat sheet all season long to help lead the Golden Eagles on the floor. He is third on the team with his scoring average of 10.3 points per game. Arnold then leads Brockport with his per game averages of 5.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.3 steals.
Hitting Their Stride: Jakhi Lucas and
Jacob Oka both closed the regular season on a high note ahead of the postseason. In the final two games, Lucas totaled 32 points, 5 boards, 10 assists, 6 steals and 2 blocks. Oka has been great as well totaling 32 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block. Both have been efficient offensively, with each shooting over 50% during this span.
Brockport vs Geneseo: The No. 8 seeded Geneseo Knights are coming back to The Vlog for the second time this week. Brockport went 2-0 against the Knights in the regular season, including the recent win on Tuesday, 87-73. The two programs are no strangers to each other, as they competed against each other in the SUNYAC for many years prior to this year's transition to the Empire 8. Saturday will mark the first ever E8 postseason matchup between Brockport and Geneseo. The Knights finished their regular season at 9-16 overall and 6-10 in the conference to earn the No. 8 seed. They are currently on a 3-game losing streak going into the opening round of the E8 Tournament.
Win or Go Home: Officially in the postseason now, the winners will advance, and the losers will have their season ended. With a win, the Golden Eagles will earn another home game on Feb. 26
th for the Empire 8 Semifinals.
