Ithaca, NY – The SUNY Brockport gymnastics team was at Cornell University on Sunday to compete at the Empire State Collegiate Championship. The Golden Eagles finished with a score of 192.450 for a third-place finish at the meet.
Only Cornell (194.200) and LIU (193.425) bested the Golden Eagles on the day. They were able to outscore the other teams competing at the meet including Cortland (191.950), Ithaca (190.250), and Utica (186.325).
Brockport began the meet on the balance beam in the first rotation. The beam team totaled 48.525 points from the event.
Amelia York posted a team-best 9.800 for the event, tying for fifth overall at the meet.
Lienna Kay added a 9.775 for a top 10 score on the beam, while
Kiara Hockman earned a 9.725.
Emma Brookins and
Alexis Schulman rounded out the scoring with marks of 9.650 and 9.575 respectively.
After a bye in the second rotation, the squad moved over to the floor for the third rotation of the meet. Showing out in their best event, the Golden Eagles received a total of 48.800 on the floor.
Kiara Hockman shined with her routine, scoring a 9.900 as the event winner for the floor exercise.
Emma Brookins was also great with a 9.850, tying for third in the event.
Jamarie Saravia added another big score with a 9.825 which tied for fifth on the floor at the meet. A 9.675 from
Claire Wood and a 9.550 from
Lienna Kay finalized the scoring for Brockport on the floor.
Up next the Golden Eagles headed over to the vault for the fourth rotation. They earned a total of 47.550 from the vault group to add to the overall score.
Claiming first place for a second event at the Empire State Collegiate Championship,
Kiara Hockman posted a 9.775 on the vault for the Golden Eagles. Brockport added points on the vault from
Lienna Kay's 9.600,
Gracie Weaver received a 9.550,
Emma Langdon a 9.400, and
Maren Eramo scored a 9.225.
The fifth rotation gave Brockport another chance to rest before closing out the day on the uneven bars in the sixth rotation.
Maren Eramo led the bars squad with a 9.675, which was good for fifth at the meet.
Emma Brookins (T-6
th) and
Charlotte Raymond (T-10
th) had top 10 scores of 9.650 and 9.600 respectively on the bars.
Aladiana Tosado's 9.525 and
Julia Klucinec's 9.125 rounded out the scoring for the event.
Earning a team total of 47.575 on the uneven bars, the Golden Eagles finished up the meet with their total of 192.450. Picking up three wins they are now listed at 7-3 overall on the season following Sunday's meet.
Brockport will be back in action at the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invite, hosted by Ithaca College on Sunday, February 16
th. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2pm.
