Devin Maxwell Promoted to Full-Time Assistant Director of Athletic Communications

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The SUNY Brockport Department of Athletics is proud to announce the promotion of Devin Maxwell to the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. Maxwell, who has served as the department's Graduate Assistant in Athletic Communications since January 2023, will now take on a full-time role, continuing to bring innovation, energy, and professionalism to Brockport's communication efforts.

In his time as a graduate assistant, Maxwell played a key role in leading coverage for Brockport's varsity athletic teams, producing press releases, website management, organizing athlete media days, managing social media strategy, and ensuring high-quality video and audio production for Golden Eagle athletic events. His contributions extended across all 24 varsity sports, where he assisted with official scorekeeping and developed strategic promotional campaigns to enhance event visibility and fan engagement.

"Devin has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic, an eye for creative storytelling, and a deep commitment to our student-athletes," said Brockport Associate Athletic Director Gil Burgmaster. "He's been an integral part of our communications team, and we're excited to have him in a full-time leadership role."

Prior to arriving at Brockport, Maxwell gained valuable experience as a statistical assistant at SUNY Cortland and as a Gameday Operations Intern at Syracuse University, where he honed his skills in real-time reporting, statistical analysis, and in-game promotions.

"Brockport has become a second home for me," said Maxwell. "I am beyond excited to step into the new role of Assistant Sports Information Director and continue to dedicate my time and effort to promoting Brockport Athletics and our excellent student athletes."

Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from SUNY Cortland and an Associate of Science from Monroe Community College. He recently graduated with his Master's degree in Athletic Administration from SUNY Brockport in the Spring of 2025.
